OT: WE ARE IN THE FINAL!!!!!!

the ladies showed lots of heart, defense was stellar, offense did enough to win, amazing performance, GO RU!!!!!

Great win. As was said above, RU needs this. It could be the start to the answer of the question detractors ask when they say "what is Rutgers doing in the big ten". Hopefully we can say "winning championships"

RU really needs to start winning some championships. This is a big moment for RU and RU womens soccer. Put a Big ten Champion banner up and people will take this program seriously.
I really thought last year they were going to do it. Hopefully this year they can grab that last W.

Fun stats:

- Minnesota and Iowa were the only 2 B1G schools RU didn't face in regular season play this year (11-game B1G schedule)

- both Rutgers and Minnesota won their semi-final games 1-0 with goals scored in the 8th minute of their respective games

are we favored to win?
Minny is #1 seed and probably slight favorite. We have played a strong schedule and are battle tested but they have played a lot of strong teams also. We are definitely in NCAAs now, but a B1G title is a B1G title baby! Close the deal ladies!

A good defense travels well and RU has a very good D. No team has scored on us in this tournament. RU has 11 shutouts this year. This should be a low scoring final with 2 good Ds. Minny has 13 shutouts this year

We also beat PSU at their place in the Quarter-finals.

Honestly in the second half I did not think the defense was stellar. We did not give up a goal but atleast couple of times NW had very good opportunities but could not finish. Problem was the defense was under constant attack as the last 25 minutes was almost entirely played in our back half. The defense made some good plays but at times left NW players open to either receive the ball or with the ball with space to take a shot on goal.

Wow - Minny has given up only 3 goals in their 11 B1G games. We need to get this match to PKs.

the schedule makers were very kind to the gophers.
They did not play us, or Penn ST. thus low scoring Northwestern 2 goals in last 6 games became their biggest conference game
