our fans boo laviano

I don't want to knock the kid but interesting that fans booing is classless but CL encouraging the crowd to boo louder is seen as some great move. Can't have it both ways. The classy move by CL would have been to keep focused on the game and not the fans.

That's a perfectly reasonable opinion one could arrive at by watching him play. People can argue for and against that. Which is all good.

Unless you know the kid personally, however, the rest of what you said about his character is completely unreasonable and says more about your character than the kid's. IMO.

Defending oneself against an angry mob behaving like spoiled children is classless? I don't think so.

Totally classless and disgusting. It was obvious the boos were at Laviano. I'm sure the recruits noticed it too. Nice job "fans".
Yeah, the recruits noticed the boos but totally forgot about the 4-8 record, colossal blow outs, and idiotic playcalling.

Antagonizing the crowd is defending yourself? You defend yourself by leading your team down the field to score the game winning touchdown. This is the same kid, who got caught with a fake ID a week before Week 1. Something a douchebag would do.

Your reaching and covering for the rutgers shitbirds

Defending oneself? He's a quarterback on the field . Even Flood called him out for it in his post game press conference.

Although you appear to be struggling to understand this, recruits can probably figure out that after Flood and crew are gone, the classless fans are still going to be here.

I'm on the fence and I'll tell you why. I think that fans really hate Flood and honestly Laviano has taken advantage of Floods FU attitude towards fans. I also believe that Laviano rushed back in there to make sure Rettig doesn't do anything special.

I often agree with your thoughts but not here. I doubt it ever occurred to rush back in to keep Rettig from doing well unless you're (Laviano) the most anti-team guy around. No indication whatsoever of that.

He went back in because he's the QB and 1 tough kid. Let's not forget he was also having maybe the best game of his career.

So you think the booing fans were doing God's work but that Laviano is the douchebag? LOL

yep, the kid has guts, was just blasted, and wanted back in. Kudos to Chris. It is the "professional" that is supposed to make the right call on the fly

Classless fans horrible

Carlin Lucas Lagrande all said it

Embarrassing
Chris Laviano did not deserve that. I suppose I have to hear posts that it was meant for flood, and Laviano should be tough enough to handle it. Just disgusting.

I never said that.
Well, here's what you said:

"Antagonizing the crowd is defending yourself? You defend yourself by leading your team down the field to score the game winning touchdown. This is the same kid, who got caught with a fake ID a week before Week 1. Something a douchebag would do."

Sort of sounds like you're calling the kid a douchebag. And he didn't antagonize the crowd. He antagonized the douchebags that were booing him. Which is fair game.

I think people are over reacting here just a bit. The boos lasted for all of five seconds. Will it have killed Flood if he kept Laviano on the sidelines for one series? Laviano rushed back into the game and handed the ball off twice for a three and out. When is a fan allowed to boo? I'm asking a serious question, when is it acceptable to stand up and shout "try the other guy, you have nothing to lose".

Did you see what I bolded? I did not say that.

Who's overreacting? We're just calling it like it is.

I'm enjoying watching people make themselves look ridiculous as they try to defend booing a kid as he comes back onto the field after delivering a complete pass while taking a hit that would put most people here in the hospital.

How about after an interception, not after a kid comes back into the game after a gutsy first down throw. Also not when the kid is actually having a good game. Laviano was FAR from the reason we lost today

So then you agree that the douchebags booing when Laviano came back onto the field are douchebags? Excellent. We're in agreement then. [laughing]
I don't like the booing of Laviano. I also don't like his reaction. You know what would shut them up? Leade the team down the field and score the winning TD.

Boos are hand grenades, not sniper rifles. You don't get to say "I was booing this particular thing, not that particular thing" - a boo is interpreted by the audience, not the one doing the booing. And the general audience will *always* assume you are booing the most obvious target, which in this case was Laviano himself (not the coaches).

Booing in that situation was uncalled for.

It's like you're in the room with an artist and a projection of one of his works comes up... and you say "that looks like crap". The artist is going to assume you mean his work, not the resolution of the projection.

I feel that Laviano knows full well that fans want Rettig to play. I agree that it's not his fault that the HC doesn't give the other kid a shot. But as unfortunate as it may seem fans can only express their feelings by either not going to the game or booing. There is s great deal of frustration on the banks.

It depends on if the backup artist has some nice work and the A/V guy kept pulling the plug when the backup's work was shown

I don't think he's been particularly good this year. But he played very well in today's game. Not perfectly, but no QB plays perfectly. The failures in this game were almost entirely on coaching, IMO.

Excellent post. I fear, however, that mobs don't do well with nuanced thinking.

Agree, Chris gave it his all and took some hard hits. He cannot be blamed for his coaches.
