Palpably Unfair Act from Washington-Philly game re: Rutgers 2006 Cinci game

Title says it all.. in that game at Cinci, Cinci had their CBs out on islands playing man so they could over-commit to stopping the run with Rice/Leonard. Repeatedly the CBs would tackle our WRs like Britt as they were about to blow by the defender... this happened over and over. Refs could have.. SHOULD HAVE.. called unsportsmanlike penalties on top of the defensive hold and PIs in order to force Cinci out of this PALPABLY UNFAIR tactic.

As for Wsh/Philly... I think Philly deserved penalties down at teh goalline several times.

1) Philly center lines up with head beyond the ball.. that is offsides.
2) on that first dive over top penalty.. the left guard twitched upwards and that caused the launcher to go.
3) on the last encroachment, QB had hands under center and was visibly moving and headbobbing unfairly.

To threaten Washington with an award TD when they blew several calls against Philly... that is ridiculous.

For the RU vs Cincy part, don't know if was in either the NFL or college rulebook then. The rule was highlighted by the NFL because of Chip Kelly instructing his 49ers to commit D holding at the end of the half in a game vs the Saints. After that the NFL instructed the refs to enforce the unfair act rule.

For the Eagles part.
1.) correct but never called.
2.) I didn't notice it but Luvu even said he was just trying to time his jump .
3.) hard counts are never called either.

Eagles win with or without the calls.

Post should’ve been made in one of the NFL playoff threads. The onus is on the d-line to stay out of the neutral zone. It gets murky down there but the benefit of the doubt goes to the O.

I might agree with this, except three things:

1. Kelly/Cincy - old news: fish wrap.
2. Philly blew out Washington. Whatever transpired with the Brotherly Shove didn’t remotely affect the outcome.
3. F*ck Washington. They were bad for so long I almost forgot to hate them. Almost.

Who's Kelly?

Can’t believe no one has mentioned the perfectly timed jump by Devraun Thompson to sack the QB on the goal line in that 2006 Cincy game. By the way, the reason the team lost that game is because they got caught up in reading their clippings instead of preparing for Cincy. They completely were out of position and forgot how to tackle, the prime example being allowing Brent Celek (another Eagles connection) to rumble 75 yards for a TD.

I think you mean against North Carolina, no?

I recall the UC defensive backs continuous holding and getting the PI for 15 yards instead of allowing big plays downfield…

What a pounding. But Wash is used to them. Da Bears scored 73 points against Them in the early forties

Washington Dline was lining up offsides also.

no. They lined up to the ball.. not to the center's helmet. You have to know the center lining up offsides on the tush-push is intentional and practiced because it is not the way he snaps on normal plays. Just go back to not allowing pushing or pulling the player with the ball. It is dangerous as well because some poor defender having to stop the ball carrier then has to stop the weight and power of 3-4 people.. that is dangerous.

what down was that? one of the penalties was caused by QB pulling back and not getting called for a ver bad rocking motion.. probably coupled with vocal triggers. Yeah.. they jumped.. but one snapshot doesn't tell the whole story.

Also note in your picture.. Philly guard is also offsides.

I have stated that the push-tush should be illegal along with all pushing/pulling the ballcarrier. That's what causes this..

I never said anything about Philly, only that Washington was lining up offsides.

That picture isn’t from this game, or even this season.
