Pat Narduzzi

this is Pitt.. you will probably end up waiting... if Narduzzi is any good he'll take a bigger job. The ACC is BORING.. if half empty stadiums against basketball schools is what you dig then you should be in heaven.

Forward RU is a FAR BETTER position than Pitt.. marquee games, big crowds, 2x the revnue vs. an ACC team, better academics, some driveable games vs PSU and Maryland, they own their own stadium and practice facility.. and BTW.. they draw crowds despite playing in the same vicinity of 2 NFL teams that are both worth $$$ more than the Steelers ..-sg
I need to reply to this crazy post..If RU is in a far better position than pitt then why are they doing so poorly? Why historically are they a nothing college football program? The NFL angle and attendance you state is also misinformed.. RU is surrounded by a huge population and yet dont draw well and arent a factor in NYC sports scene. We all saw the home game OSU played in Jersey. Better academics? I would say on average RU, PSU,Pitt, MD are all pretty equivalent, depending on the rankings you want to look at. Now which program is it easier to win at? Pitt and it isnt close... Acc is easier to win.. In your division of the Big ten you will always at best be fifth behind MSU,UM,PSU,and OSU... Personally Maryland is in a better position to win than RU, considering the UA money... I dont care if someone wants to make an arguement for one school over another, just make it a good arguement..

I think both you guys went ''over the top''...were doing better than anyone dreamed..i'll just leave it at that..i don't think negativity is necessary since unlike PSU fans most RU fans like Pitt in the ACC ...maybe the only school we'd pull for there...certainly not Cuse.

LOL

I call your coach the "Converter". He will take a rivals 4-Star player and convert him into a rivals 2-star player in performance (no flame).

LOL!!!!

Look at your teams performance with all your good recruits.
Nationally, Penn State gets "NO" respect or recognition in the national polls (no flame).

With a 6-2 record, Penn State did not get "One Vote" in the Amway Coaches Poll or the Associated Press Poll.
Not "One" coach or sports writer would cast "One" vote for your football team.

The "Dominator" can't get much domination in the National Polls.

LOL!!!!

Pitt fans hope Franklin remains many years at Penn State.

LOL!!!!

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

that's a lot of LOLs

we didn't get 1 vote because...we shouldn't be in the top 25.....not even close.....i mean, if that warrants a LOL out of ya, that's cool.

dude...we get it, we're 6-2 and haven't looked that impressive in our wins....trust me, we know....but we're still 6-2...eff it

You guys are ranked at 6-1 because you've been more impressive, albeit against a crappy schedule, .....good for you guys. quite frankly, it's not Pitt's fault that the ACC sucks and you avoid the two best teams FSU & Clemson....you beat the teams in front of you, and that's what Pitt's doing.....again, good for you guys.....just because I don't like Pitt doesn't mean I don't have eyes.

that being said...Narduzzi's going to need a little bit more than just a couple good recruits from the Burgh. he's going to need some skill players badly. he's a good coach, but the roster's going to go downhill after a year or two...because O-Line recruiting's been bad recently....it takes some time to see it...i.e. PSU. plus....who are these QBs he's recruiting? i don't know...maybe he knows something we all don't. Petermen's been looking good though.

as for Franklin....he'll get a long leash. surely, we have concerns with him. he'll have his chance to rebuild the roster and then PSU fans including myself will run out of excuses. so the jury will still be out. as of now?...6-2 is where we expected him to be at....and gosh, after the Temple game....I'd thought we'd be 3-5.

RU is in a real conf with real revenues.. they play a real schedule. The play in their OWN stadium, they are not at the mercy of BASKETBALL schools when it comes to making big decisions. The day that Pitt didn't get into the BIG was the day that their fate to eternal mediocrity was sealed.. Pitt would never win in the BIG, but they could float their rental program for years with those types of revenues. I like Pitt as a school, and love the 'Burgh, but Pitt is simply an afterthought, if Pitt football went away nobody outside of 13,000 diehards will/would even notice. Pitt is San Diego State, Houston, Cincinnati.. they are pretty much nothing.-sg

Because no one gives a crap about PITT football (no flame). They are a complete after thought in the city of Pittsburgh - just look at their attendance.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on whether or not anyone would care if Pitt football went away (aside from 13,000 diehards of course). When Pitt starts winning again I think you'll see the stadium fill as it used to back in the early 2000s when Fitz played. As far as recruiting is concerned the group of coaches currently on staff seem to be doing quite well with the class of 2017. 2016 is an off year regarding the number of ships available but even in this incoming class we notice improvement in the speed of recruit. But the most important improvement in Pitts standing is with the administration. The new Chancellor is young and committed to football and college athletics in general. The new AD is a whiff of fresh air and a complete opposite of the kindly departed AD. Whether or not Pitt would win in the Big 10 is irrelevant and a false argument. The only win we need in the Big 10 over the next four years is scheduled.

Since this is a Rutgers board I'll say that what you have to do is start beating PSU and Maryland on the field and at recruiting. All three of you seem to have the same territory for recruits and are after the same type of recruit. Pitt on the other hand is looking for the kid that wants to go to school in the city and practice and play ball in world class facilities. And make no mistake Pitt owns its practice facility and shares the field with the Steelers but they are on one side and Pitt the other. But comparing P5 conferences is really silly IMO. They each have their cycles of power and their fans have their bias'.

From my standpoint I would like to schedule a series with RU in the future. But the old AD tied us up with these silly series' that make absolutely no sense. Scott Barnes is trying to fix it but contractually you can only do so much. Pitt should play PSU every year but as long as the curse of Paterno falls over that institution it won't happen (it makes too much sense). It makes no sense for Pitt to schedule WVU but we have to do it in the short term for publicity purposes. Rutgers makes far more sense to schedule than WVU and it's not too far for the fans from each of the schools to support going to the games.

Penn State will be mediocre until they get out and play OOC games with teams where they want to recruit players. If that means going into VT so be it. Pitt has to do the same wrt ACC competition. And Rutgers should do the same against PSU.

80% of this board would rightfully trade Flood for Narduzzi in a second.
Exactly and 2 months ago it was 50% and next month it will 90%. The 10% are the same type of people that were bellying up to the bar on the titanic ordering another drink thinking that they were just hitting choppy water.

Good point. I just thought and still think he would have been a good fit for RU. However money talks and we have none
LOL. Yes - the reason we dont have Narduzzi is because we couldnt outbid Pitt last year.

Or maybe its because we had a fairly successful season last year - not the kind of season that gets a coach fired at RU or any other school in year 3.

Good post. That being said, how does it make sense for PSU to schedule PITT every year but PITT scheduling WVU doesn't? Quite frankly, PITT made their bed decades ago and PSU playing PITT every year on a 1:1 does absolutely nothing for PSU.

Pitt and Penn State are both state schools and receive state funding. They should play each other every year. Every other state that has two P5 schools in different conferences play each other. And its just not true that playing Pitt every year does nothing for PSU. PSU doesn't have that great of a recruiting record in WPA and they could use some of the kids they aren't getting.

Is this a joke? We don't have that great of a recruiting record in Western PA or the WPIAL? First of all, how much talent is coming out of WPA that isn't from Pittsburgh? Damian Terry, Delton Williams, Greg Garmon, Charles Rush? Are you going to go all the way back to Sanders? Terry was the same class as Hack BTW. I know Conner is a stud but we didn't even offer him.

In regards to the WPIAL, we do just fine there. I'm not going to do a full analysis here, but there are three kids on your team who I think we really wanted and offered - Johnson, Boyd and Whitehead. Compare that to the kids PITT wanted on the PSU roster and it's no contest.

Like I said, playing PITT and filling their stadium and generating revenue for them does absolutely nothing for PSU. We're better off playing Temple, VT or anyone else.

If Narduzzi finishes the season 10-2 he will become a sort after commodity. If he finishes the season 11-1 deep pockets will come calling, much deeper than ours.
