Penn state had much more talent than us

I guess Albany must have better Jimmys and Joes. Please stop making excuses. Its one game. Let's see if they can bounce back.

They clearly have better talent and their relatively young. Their best scorer came off the bench in both halves.

Rutgers had 9 players that scored 6 or less points.Hard to win.

Rutgers hired the right guy in Steve Pikiell. They play with a purpose, and a passion. Progress is happening daily in practice and wins will come as recruiting improves. The roster is limited on talent right now. This is a four to six year rebuild to be relevant in the mighty Big Ten.

our guards are 6-0 and can't shoot. Their best guard was 6-4 and can shoot.

Our players can't finish around the rim. Their players can.

Jimmy's and joes not the X's and O's
Their one guard (from CA, I think 00), drained a few shots when he got good looks

I was very impressed by their ball movement. Seems like they'd make a guy miss and get off a couple of quick passes for an open look. They missed a lot of open looks. I felt like we were forced to pass around the perimeter and didn't have as many

Couple of observations having been at the game. Our website lists Sanders at 6'2" and they list Carr at 6'3". No way. Our guards appeared to have difficulty getting shots off against their greater length. Their ball movement appeared to allow them to get great open shots on us, and they made them. I think our guards really have to push the ball on offense to get any type of advantage on other teams. Drives me crazy to see Getty and Freeman not get rewarded with an inside pass when they have worked their butt off to get position and have a man on their back. Gettys made two inside baskets in a row and than was ignored for the next six or seven minutes in a row. Our big men with the exception of Gettys need to catch the ball and put it up inside and not dribble. Everytime a big man dribbled they seemingly lost the ball. Love the effort of Freeman and Williams having said that, Freeman needs to get stronger inside as he appears to be overmatched against B1G competition. Sanders had a really tough day defensively (perhaps his ankle) but seemed that PSU were isolating on him and going over him when getting him inside. Coach P had a really bad combination of players on the court a couple minutes into the second half and by the time he changed it around there was a 14 point gap in score.

Having said all of that i think this is the right coach at the right time and he has some players with some heart and needs a couple more players to buy into what is being taught. If they do this year will see a couple of B1G wins.

Wish list 6'4" point guard ( real point guard). I recognize thats on everyones list
A True 6'7" or 6'8" shooting forward that can shoot and slash.

You mean their best 3 point shooter, Garner, but not their best player. We totally shut down Garner with a good scouting report. Their freshman point, Carr, is the real deal and we had a hard time handling him especially in the first half.

Lots of good points on not feeding the post guys. Not sure about size of the forward , but definitely, need Laurent to try and score and try to shoot along with Issa when he is playing with the 2 other guards . We are getting next to nothing out of the 3 spot and it is killing us .

Takes more than 1/2 a season to turn a program around
we USED to lay eggs even in the OOC

Gotta get ready for next game.....I hope they shake it off

Basketball coaches rarely survive a 4-6 year rebuild process as seen by all the coaching changes at Rutgers the past 20 years.Losing doesn't improve recruiting which in the end is the reason why coaches get fired. The B1G is a league where a dramatic jolt in talent is required like when Rutgers got the two transfers from Syracuse when Wenzel was the head coach.

Laurent seems to be struggling the most in the new system. I am not suggesting he is not buying in...just my observation.

He seemed much more comfortable in the randomness/chaos of last year.

Obviously, we haven't been really executing a great offense this year, but on both ends, he just seems like he is struggling out there.

Penn State was missing 2 starters yesterday including their leading scorer.
A wasn't opportunity for RU.
