Prime opportunity to get a little bit of an upset Sunday. Illinois is likely favored, but we need to start winning duals like this.

What’s the over under on wins? 1?
Shawver vs Davis is a tossup. Only other realistic winnable match is Peterson over LL…
If Poz can wrestle like his freshman form maybe he has a small chance against freshman Barr but it’s unlikely.. Barr pace is relentless.. maybe only other match is if Bartlett wrestles one of his super tight one takedown/OT match and Olivieri steals one.

Illinois slightly favored.. tons of tossups, would be awesome if we could pull out this win.. would need a total team effort. Wonder if we will have Barbosa going at 165 for this match.

Does he still have his redshirt available? Or is he over limit

Barr will be NCAA champion this year. Kid is relentless, very physical, has great technique as could be another 4x NCAA champ. We may see the the most NCAA Champs in history this year from Penn State. Levi Haines will beat O"Toole next time around. No one is beating Kasak or Mesenbrink. They are machines. Bartlett will have a tough go against Mendes, but may run into Alirez first.Lillendal, I think he wins it all,kid is super slick.Braeden Davis, I think he places very high, Kerkliviet is gonna take out Steveson, mark my words. That kid is on another level.

The advantage you have with Peterson and Shawver is experience. The home crowd will help as well. Those bouts will both be very close I think. And you're right about Bartlett too, he sometimes wrestles tight matches, although he is very good at scoring late takedowns to win. Poz vs Barr will be interesting too. Poz can pin from anywhere and he's got tons of mat time in college. Barr has far exceeded everyone's expectations though. Like, I knew he was gonna be good, but I'm surprised at how strong he looks.

I think apart from that it will be tough sledding but this might be the deepest team Rutgers has ever had. You guys can definitely beat Illinois, which would be a really nice win after coming so close against tOSU.

Here's hoping everyone stays healthy!

Will be a chore to win 1 match
As a former Scarlet Knight wrestler, and loyal forever to Rutgers, unfortunately I have to agree with you. As much as I can't stand Penn State, their lineup is world class. Every one of their starters has a legitimate chance of winning an NCAA title.

Yeah it's honestly insane. I watched them against Nebraska last week. They're so loaded. I hope we win a match or 2, but it'll be an uphill battle.

Sunday is one we need to get. They're ranked a little above us with a bunch of tossups. These are the duals we need to start winning where we've been coming up short for years now.

We unfortunately probably won't even win one match. As much as it pains me to say. They are just too good. Maybe we will keep it tight at 125 and 133. Other than that unfortunately, we're going to get crushed. There are guys in a lineup that can probably medal at the olympics right now.

I saw that Rutgers has alternates at 125, 141, 165, 197, and HWT. Peterson has to go at 125 and maybe have Smith go on Sunday, although bonus points may be critical. Don't throw an undersized Smith against Lilledahl. It may not matter at 141, but we need Olivieri on Sunday. Whoever gets fed to Mesenbrink will be a tech fall or pin, but I'd rather see Barbosa fresh on Sunday. If Poz's chances are that bad, send Casale out and save Poz for one he could win on Sunday. I don't see this as dodging as much as strategic. Yara-Slav at least has a chance on Sunday, and Friday, not so much.

I agree on Barr, he is relentless, I saw him pushing he had everything left just to bonus a kid in the third. I believe he will place very high not sure he beats Buchanan or Ferrarri yet tho..

Not sure Penn state breaks 6+ champs this year but I think they can break the scoring record for sure. A healthy O’toole v Haines still tossup to me. Just like SVN v Lovett will be. A healthy Shapiro is the fav for me at 157.. although another good run at nationals should cement Kasak in the PSU future lineup.. he’s the most overlooked pennstater imo.. no one touching Messebrink he got the motor and the mindset. Mendez jumped another lvl this year, he’s winning it. Bartlett might slip up somewhere wit all his close matches. Lilledhal wrestles w the poised of a 5th year senior, but im taking Ramos this year.. he got the wake-up call he needed from Spencer Lee…

I cannot take ur word on Kerk. I hope can take ur words on the transfers tho 🙏.. yes Kerk has jumped lvls, but so has Hendrickson and Gable.. rn Gable is on his own tier, then Kerk and Hendrickson make the next.

Peterson has a chance if he wrestles with aggression like he said he would a couple of weeks ago. He needs to not get scored on in the final seconds of any period and get it done in regulation, not OT. Shawver should win if we consider his performance last year versus Davis' performance last year and the fact that Davis is up a weight class this year. Davis has likely improved much from last year. Has Shawver? Any other wins would be unexpected and welcome upsets. Whatever happens, I hope it triggers the charitable instinct in Bassett.

White over Barbosa is weird. Clark has had injuries in the past, hope he’s all good. Nini is gonna get waxed.

Barbosa has one date left, not sure why he would be put out there against Messenbrink? If he is healthy I think he goes Sunday against 10-2 Scoles. Scoles lost 9-6 to the Ohio St kid that Barbosa beat 2-1. RU probably needs 165 to beat Illinois.

Personally I think Barbosa should be the starter and just wrestle any match he’s healthy for. I think he can qualify for nationals.

I hope Barbosa is not hurt or injured. I think it's smart to save him for Sunday. Either White or Ford, it doesn't matter which one gets teched or pinned. Same at 149, whether it's Clark or Nini, same result.

KidDagger: Why are you questioning Shawver? He's listed in the lineup.

Tuff call for him and the coaches. Is he better than White, yes. But White should also qualify as well. What is Barbosa upside at Nationals...1-2, 2-2 if gets an upset. Or redshirt him, let him get bigger and have a better showing at Nationals next year.

Neither one will AA, but Barbosa stands the better chance to go the farthest, even if just one round. That aside, Barbosa is the best choice to win duals.

You sure he can RS still? Some saying he can’t any longer?

BTW he is at Mexico Team Trials so wont be wrestling this weekend.
