Pep Hamilton was fired today

Except Schiano didn't outcoach him:
2009: 31-13 Syracuse
2010: 13-10 Syracuse
2011: 19-16 (2OT) Rutgers
2012: 23-15 Rutgers (Flood)

Marrone would be an improvement. He has head coaching experience. At the highest level.

He's probably out of the budget so our argument is likely moot, but still feel he ought to be mentioned in a thread like this.
You forgot 2013 Bucs 27 - Bills 6. I think GS did out coach him. Bucs were terrible but GS still crushed Marrone.

I didn't take that into account.

But I still don't think one can say Schiano's head-and-shoulders a better coach than Marrone (like Imbazza seems to imply) when you put their resumes next to one another.

I'd personally give Schiano the nod because he built a program from scratch, but that's not where we're at now.

OK I agree put Marrone and Schiano as a PAR but neither is the NEXT step up for a HC both have warts and we would be better off riding out Flood contract and see what we can afford down the road.

Marrone will not get a big HC job after he opt out of the Bills. No one is going to hire a guy with that on his resume. He'll get looks as position coach in the NFL or a none P5 HC job.

jtung: someone will give him another shot if the price is right. If you can coach you can coach. UCF gave George O'Leary another shot after ND had to fire him for lying on his resume.

Speaking of Indianapolis Coaches, would you guys think Chuck Pagano be a good fit? He may not have coached at Timbuktu or Trans State. But he was 11-5 x 3 but he's about to lose the power struggle in Indy. He is a pro coach and is still young enough to stick around a while.

Of course it will never happen but still...
