Pikes brilliant strategy

Ugh, dude. There is something about you that makes me believe you are sincere. I think it’s because you defended Geo on NIL which I honestly did respect.

Every team had the advantage of extra covid years so I don’t think this logic makes sense.

You don’t have to agree with me but I live this school and RU athletics.

My point is the backbone of the 2022 team would have graduated and not been on the team to make a play in game.

So you want credit for 2020 fine but Geo and others not on the 2022 and we don’t make the play in game

How do you know what happens in 2022 if Geo is gone but so are a bunch of players on other teams. Bear in mind Caleb and RHJ were still eligible in 2022 either way.

I really don’t know why some of you can’t make a point without using extreme hyperbole. Just makes you look ridiculous. No one is happy with this season. But some of you say the craziest things. 🤷‍♂️
Seems pretty factual

Fair but RHJ leaves if Geo is gone IMO!
Now you’re asking me to trust Pike in his recruiting and portal work? Sorry can’t give you that but I understand

Leaves for what? He was a junior. He wasn’t leaving for the NBA. He would’ve had to sit out a year if he transferred.

I’m not asking you to trust anything, I’m just asking you to at least give him credit for the teams he actually had on the court.

I started with 2020 was his best team ! I believe that’s credit? Even if you want to give him phantom credit for a tournament then my premise of a 6 year downward spiral has even more credence

I want to give him credit for a tournament quality team. I think this is different from inventing a phantom tournament. It’s a team that would’ve made the tournament had a tournament happened.

I just think it’s silly to call that four year stretch part of a downward spiral even if the fourth team was technically worse than the first one. It was a pretty good 3.5 year run followed by a meltdown and two bad years.

I also think this years team is clearly better than last years so that part of the trend line isn’t correct either.

You will get no argument from me that the last two years were failures but the narrative that it’s been six years of whatever is just ridiculous imo.

Completely fair!!!!!!!!!!

If you look at the quality of the teams and how far each of them advanced! Best team, 1 tournament win, lost play in, self destructed miss tournament. Open to what you call that but each year was less then the one before.

Is it better? Same record as last year but set a NCAA collegiate BBall record for only team with 2 nba lottery picks and not make the tournament. He’ll he barley made the BTT. Absolutely embarrassing.

Agree to disagree! All good

Paid top 25 coach 1 tournament win in 9 years definitely trending the wrong way and next years team will struggle to make the BTT. Everyone knows Pike apologists and haters. The answer ppl want to give is we’ll just take it because of his contract.

Great we all know we’re driving off the cliff but hey just sit there and take it? No ty

Pike Peaked a few years ago and in typical Rutgers form it was during Covid when the post season got canceled.
To be fair the team the next year had also good and then blew it in round 2 in a year where the bracket would have been favorable to make the elite 8 had they won.

Back then people said - oh don't worry. We'll be back, we're just getting started.

Why is it ok after limited success in 5 years for the football team to have a rebuilding year in year 6?

But god forbid pikiell have a rebuild 3 years after a tourny bid.

The criticism pike receives compared to Greg in this board has always been head scratching to me
I think the magnitude of the rebuilds is much different. You can rebuild much faster in basketball than football. Yes, possible for a fast rebuild in football thanks to the transfer portal (see Indiana) but more likely that is not going to happen (see Colorado, Texas A&M). Seems like given the scope of the game, the rebuild in basketball is quicker.

The reality with NIL and the transfer portal ,college basketball teams will have at least 50% roster turnover each year until legislation is passed stopping yearly transfers.

Because it's building a team of 5 starters vs. building a team of 22 starters.
