Wait, not to change the subject, but Toby Tyler? As in the kid that gets exploited while working in the circus? If so, why is that your snation name? Ha! Just curious. Solid flick. My kids (6 and 9) used to love taking that movie out at the library. :D

Eugene Omoyuri!

Get ready folks. I think we are in for some battles at the RAC this year. Always bring a friend, and a son/daughters friend.

Let's PAC it out!

The spaceship is prepared for liftoff. Or Knight's Castle. Whatever.

No, just video

Damn. Was hoping he talked about line up construction, how small our small ball lineup could really be, and how much we could run in those sets. Knew I wouldn't be able to watch.

Did he give a breakdown of minutes each guy will play?

Was there. Great crowd. Better than the Ash show last week. The breakdown (of what I can remember):
- Said something about him moving to Jersey
- I think he said his daughter just moved out to college at Northwestern and is gonna play basketball
- Said Myles Johnson is a baller, is CJ Gettys but actually more athletic & mobile.
- Will be able to use Corey Sanders more off the ball, since Souf and Geo can both play point guard. Said none of the guys we had could really run plays to get the ball to Corey, now we can so he will be moving him all over.
- DeShawn Freeman had an awesome summer and should have a great senior season
- Souf is the team leader when it comes to community - plans their bowling outings, movie nights, etc.
- Kept saying how much he loves the RAC and said he wouldn't change a thing, super loud and great.
- Said Geo Baker is the best shooter on the team, best 3-point shooter, and free-throw shooter. Said he is very teachable and really listens to the coaches and uses it to make his game better.
- Said Eugene will benefit from having his first full summer with the team - last year he was still playing AAU, and so was playing catch up during the year. Said he will be very improved.
- Said it's really hard to shoot free throws, all mental, they will really work on that with the players.
- Said he hopes in 3-5 years we are a team that makes the big dance and does it every year.
- The schedule just happened to be favorable this year, says we'll make up for it by being on the road a lot next year. Says the schedules are made way in advance in terms of the SHU/FSU deals etc. and he had no part in last year's besides Stony Brook obviously.
- Said MSG is a home game for us for the B1G tourney.

That;s all I remember, watch the video for the whole thing, but it was really well done, Jerry Recco was a great host and Pike is a great speaker and made me really excited for the season.

Also, been lot of speculation on this board about what position Omoruyi would play this year. Coach said Eugene's primary playing time would be at the 4 but also has versatility to guard 1 - 5. Said Eugene and DeShawn have really been battling in practice.

Interesting that Eugene will primarily play the 4. I knew he would play there a lot, but I thought he would still play a lot at the 3.

If Eugene doesn’t play much at the 3, it creates an interesting scenario about just who will play the 3. We know Thiam will be the primary guy there, but that still leaves 15-20 minutes for others.

Either Pike plans on playing a lot of three guard offense, or perhaps Bullock is on tap for playing time. Or maybe we’ll even see Freeman at the 3 with his newfound jump shot.

Bullock seems to be logical back up for the 3, however, coach never mentioned him last night ....and Shaq wasn't discussed either, perhaps he still has a ways to go get healthy. I think we can use Shaq when we face BIG teams like Purdue.

Come on, guys. It’s obvious that Bullock will be anchored to the bench. Thiam will get time at the three when we aren’t going three guard which I would expect quite a bit. I wouldn’t expect anything from Doorson unfortunately. If he’s healthy enough to give us 10 minutes a game and some fouls during the main Big Ten season that’s probably about as much as we can hope for.

One of the most exciting things in my opinion was his acknowledgment that we haven't had guards that could create for corey. This made him one dimensional and easy to game plan for since the ball was always in his hands coming up. He is going to be moved around now that we have other true point guards and be able to score in different ways.

If corey makes the jump that we all know he's capable of, this can be the season we've all been waiting for.

Every time I hear coach speak the more I am certain we have the right guy in charge.

Coach also made the comment how important it is to have kept the current staff in place. It helps in coaching, recruiting, and perception.

Mike Williams and Souf are great to have because the team needs a bruiser that can help rebound when t hey want to play three guards.. In saying that, Mike Williams and Souf will be the players for that position. Thiam will still play there, but might get squeezed for minutes some nights.

I remember a lot of 3 out, 2 in sets last year that were based on ball movement. I think changes on offense will be had(offense worked well for CJ Gettys), but I think it is highly importance Freeman is around the basketball because he is our best rebounder. For that reason, I doubt Freeman will play the 3.

Jerry Rocco was really terrific and asked great questions. Ash might have to fight for his job back at qsl.

Radio show last night again shows all RU fans are in good hands with Coach. He has a blueprint for success and the rigor and determination to stay on course to get it done.

Another tidbit from the show: Pikiell mentioned that Thiam has added 16 pounds since the end of last season. In June, he said Thiam had gained 11 pounds. Nice to hear he's putting on the necessary weight. It'll be difficult for him to add any more weight during the season, but if he can put on another 15 pounds during the next off-season, that would be encouraging.

I totally agree. It seems like everybody has made a fair bit of progress. I think the big thing for Thiam will be gaining the weight, and feeling comfortable with the changed frame. I think Thiams breakout year will be next year. I think he has a decent year this year, as well.

So that'd put him at 6-9, 206 now. Agree that 215-220 would probably be closer to an ideal weight for him.

Pikiell made the rounds shaking hands with all the fans .He stressed the importance of maintaining staff continuity because all the coaches are such hard workers. He was excited about Rutgers future and hopeful that post season participation will happen sooner than expected .Pikiell stated he has experience rebuilding programs and that the process is moving ahead with player development, recruiting and building the practice facility.Recco said construction would start in November.Very enjoyable evening.
