Politi's Report Card on Rutgers

I didn't watch the play BC I went to Piss after the TD. I listened to what the coach said in the presser( I could have my left and right mixed up). He specifically said the kid did the exact opposite of what he was told to do. Between what Ash said and the likes I received, from people I know understand football, I am gonna stand by my post.
The kick was right, just maybe not far enough right. The two defenders on the left should have been the two fastest ST players. They weren't, not even close. Coaching!

Maybe, but why don't you look up what the weights for Ohio State or Michigan or any really good team that uses a 4 man front are. They are all going to give up a 30 plus pound average, just because of the average size of DEs is a lot lower than that of tackles and guards.

I do agree that an OL can wear out a DL as the game wears on, but almost every team is gonna have a size discrepancy.
In any event, I cannot argue that we have a talent deficit to the elite Big Ten teams in any position group, including the DL. I also think we had a coaching deficit, but hopefully the younger players are getting much better positional coaching and that even our existing players will be playing better after a year or two in this new system.

It seems pretty clear to me that we're getting better strength and conditioning now. A few off-seasons of that will improve our ability to compete.

I am not sure what reply you watched because he did kick it short and to the right..and the entire team all bunched that way. I know they are told to do that BUT they over did it and he just ran around them. They showed the reply from the back and it was obvious. (it may not have been very high though..not sure). I hate those kick calls. Too cute. Just stick with one plan and execute it well.
I just looked at kyk's pic. Guy caught the ball on like the 8. That ball needs to be fair caught on about the 25. You know right where all our guys are standing. Sorry this was kicker error. Again

Glad you realzied WHY the LB's had to make so many plays. Our DL was getting abused most of the game. What did they say their OL outweighed our DL by? 37 lbs per man? Maybe it was 27. Regardless they were freakin' huge and The Gophers had no issue running it up the gut.
If the LB's are making a lot of tackles, it's because the DL is doing a good job keeping the OL from getting to them. That is the largest part of their job. DLinemen are never supposed to be your lead tacklers. They are supposed to consume blockers. The did a decent job of that. LB's outside of Williams need to learn to get people on the ground. The SS needs to learn to wrap instead of diving at feet with the back of his shoulders.

Milewski talked about it on the post game show the other day. He mentioned people wanting to blame the coverage, when it comes down to the kicker out kicking his coverage.

yeah well I know it was right...but I didn't think it was that deep. he definitely out kicked where they were running to then. I didn't dispute the length part as I wasn't sure. You mind as well squib the darn thing and hope you get lucky on a bounce or it causes the return team to scramble.

regardless, our execution has always been an issue. That is why I say just do 1 thing and do it well. or go all out and create havoc and confuse the crap out of the other team.
