Curious to know what filled roster means. Is it 15 players?? If so, those fifteen need to consist of different levels of talent. Young developing, serviceable, and starter/elite. Players 12-15 have to be okay with the thought of not sniffing the floor.
Seems like you want a full roster of 15 that all expect to play regularly game to game. Not gonna work, IMO. I am curious to see how Md works out. They just added another player in the mold of Kaylene bringing their roster to 15. Yesterday they picked up Mir McClean (she started out at UConn and most recently at UVa). Brenda's gonna have to go 12 deep to keep everyone happy.....and that is with the freshman not even seeing the floor. Will they be okay with that?! Time will tell.
I'm guessing, half of that roster is gonna be in the portal next year.
A roster of 15…of course everybody isn’t going to play.
CW first year we had 8! Thankfully no injuries. Last year had 11, then Awa injured and Smikle with the mysterious circumstances… we were down to 9, sometimes 8 with Petticord and Thompson injured. It was not enough.
You are correct, the players who sit will most likely want to transfer. But that is just the modern era of college sports. That is a poor excuse to not fill a roster.
… and Samara Spencer to the Vols now. My target list getting smaller and smaller now :(

Tenn is back. This coach can close the deal with the recruits much better than Kelly Harper could. Their tradition and fanbase is hard to compete with.
We still can dream for Deja! She's been no.1 on my list for the role we need filled. I originally thought of her as out of our league, to consider.
15 is just unworkable, really. I remember Tasha - long before portal days - making a comment about managing 15 young women in a locker room.
Adia here in Arizona has spoken about 13 being a good number. She thought she had 11 and ended up with 2 walk-ons and 7 playing, similar to the adversity Rutgers faced with shrinkage during the season for various reasons. So supposedly she wants 13 and in talking she makes it sound good.
We will see how it works out - but both the programs I root for found out that 11 is too few, so yes, I hope for the 13.
In my opinion…14 or 15 is better. There are plenty of lower rated players to take a risk on. One of them is bound to progress and give good minutes.
The lower rated players would be elated to come to a BiG 10 school and we get our roster filled.
This team has been short on players 2 seasons in a row. Lets not act like it isn’t a big deal or we’re being careful not to have to many.
Even 13, ok…fine. We did not have 13 in 22-23 or 23-24. 8 or 11 is not acceptable.
And then I woke up to reality!

It may end up being the PAC 12 teams(minus Washington) taking over 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the B1G standings this coming season.

I know there are still plenty of players in the portal that could help us. Big names are becoming scarce.
As I said a couple months ago, we are now in the moment of truth. While we have had some really nice additions, it still stings that for other schools we used to compete with, the good times seem to be continuously rolling. For us, it's been stop and go.
At this point, with whoever gets added,..... It comes down to the same thing as last season and the one before that, CW's first season. CW is going to have to coach up whoever she has on roster to where the team punches above their weight and makes elite talent take notice.
We haven't done it yet. Shown flashes a few times her first season. Took a big step backwards this past season with some of the poor quality tape that was displayed on some of those nationally broadcast games. Granted, Coach often made effective adjustments that showed improved play in the second quarter or half of those games, but most will remember the poor play at the start of the games before they turned it off.

TN has beaten us when it counts…the NCAAs…I sadly have attended 3 of the drubbings.
Was also in Philly and Cleveland for the ff loses. Also at the RAC for the one win when UT was the drubbee
NCAA mandate. Supposed to give recruits time to clear their heads, I believe.
Didn't most schools have finals a week or two ago?
Dead period seems a little late..... but what do I know. It's been a while for me since those days.
