Never seen such weak post defense. Sa, Doorson, Gettys look like feathers getting pushed around.

Thought it may have been worth switching up to zone...especially on that last possession in regulation. Wisconsin wa clearly all about feeding Happ...maybe that would have thrown them off.

Refs were letting them play inside, plenty of elbows, shoulders by the Offensive player. Difference we couldn't make a layup. And, of course foul shooting. Getty's was of NO help! He is like the big fat kid in the school yard, with no athletic abilities.

yes late it was but it was pretty solid most of the game, we have less talented guys than Happ and we were able to hold them to 45 points. IMO the game was lost with not being able to hit shots in the half court

It was good enough to win this game in regulation if Rutgers made one more foul shot.Holding Wisconsin to 45 points when they are averaging over 70 points is a very good defensive effort

45 points. Can't complain about defense.

We missed 2 free throws and a front end of a 1 and 1 at the end of the is half. Chance for 4 points, we got zero. Add that to all of the wasted possesions in a variety of ways.

talent gap...bottom line...I swear I think Happ made about 12 straight in the paint and NOBODY was stopping most of those moves. The only mistake was by Gettys, late, he should have nailed him and made sure that Happ didn't get the shot off.

True, but he had 4 fouls.

And if Happ gets the hoop and harm?
We lose in regulation and people would be calling for CJ's head.

Wisconsin has two of the most versatile big men in the B1G with Happ and Hayes. We do not have mobile bigs. Hayes was a non factor, we took him out of the game. Happ played a great game, he got our bigs in foul trouble. I think our bigs did what they could and gave their all. It wasn't lack of effort, just a tough match with Happ.

If we did one thing right that we did wrong, we beat the number 15 team in the country on a neutral court.

We should have gone to zone more down the stretch, but I don't fault the decisions made by Pikiell at all. The guys you mentioned are what we have to work with. Let's face reality; today Happ was a major stud. God, I wish we could get someone like him in here that does it well on both ends of the court.

Happ was good but if we had a decent big man he can be slowed as he is not really physical.

Yes and no. Happ moves really, really well for a big man. He has great moves around the basket and we have lumbering giants who move very slowly. I don't think physicall necessarily makes the difference. I think we need more of an athletic low post player there who can counter Happ's quick moves. That would have made the difference IMO.

Happ is a HORRIBLE (52% on the year) FT shooter. You take your chances and smash him there (as in: the shot doesn't get off).

In hindsight with 6 seconds remaining fouling Happ prior to him shooting would be a good game ending option hoping he. missed one of the foul shots.I say that because going into overtime would favor Wisconsin.
