What is going on with Kanniard at 157? Is there a reason for scratch?

Is Hughes (@ 174) the guy who just lays on top (synchs legs in) and does nothing else and wins?

Against Grello, sure but he is 2-4 this year and was 18-11 last season so it's not like he is a dominant opponent.

Grello doesn't have much of an offensive attack which makes him literally the exact opposite of Turley, so when you don't score points and get stuck on bottom it's very difficult to beat anyone evenly matched.

Wondering about this as well.

He is in Covid Protocol. If you miss your conference tournament due to covid protocol and your team does not replace you, you are eligible for an at large selection. RU coaches must feel he has a chance for an at large. My opinion is he has no chance.

We got really good draws. Should get 6 qualifiers. Then need a lot of luck for Kanniard to qualify. We will learn if the gamble not to enter someone at 157 works. Did any other team sit a wrestler?

Nope. All of the other weights have 14 wrestlers, but I'm going to imagine there will be a few medical forfeits along the way, so it will definitely be interesting to see what happens.

Kanniard's mother said that he tested positive for COVID for the 2nd time over a week ago but unfortunately due the B1G's 17 day rule, he is ineligible for the conference tournament. She mentioned how they appealed to the conference because he would have been okay by the CDC's guidelines, but they didn't budge (I guess that only works if you are OSU and you are playing for the championship). It was also said that he was completely asymptomatic and that the last 5 times he was tested, he has been negative each time. Definitely a crappy situation for the kid.

Warren the commissioner is a complete hack. He was a bum in all of his prior roles ant this conference won’t get better until a real executive is installed

This is absolutely ridiculous. I really feel for Kannaird and he would have made the tournament.
We now need a miracle for an out large bid if that's at all possible.

If been defending the big 10 while others have ripped them apart, because the big 10 has been erring on the side of caution since the summer. But to waive the arbitrary 17 day rule for football but not for wrestling shows that the only thing they care about is money and nothing else. Embarrassment

It will be tough for Kanniard to get a bid.

Yes. Plus Robbie would need Cleary to place top 8 and qualify. He's not .700, he wasn't AA 2019, he wasn't top 16 seed in 2020, he didn't place within 1 spot of allocation and he doesn't have a win against a qualifier. He is in the top 33. So he will need Cleary to make the tournament to meet 2 of the at large standards and stay in the top 33. He needs that to happen to even be considered
