Purple lot cops on ATVs

Oh my Lord, I get so mad when cops patrol and do their job. Why can't they just go hide somewhere and leave us alone, oh that upsets me as well. Effing cop gets taken from his two kids yesterday in the Bronx and today I need to hear little bitches complain about ATV'S driving through their tailgate. You people disgust me sometimes.
What does one have to do with the other asshat?

The first responder lot was pay to get in today also change which just came on Thursday according to the lot attendant.

Driving the ATVs through the aisles is not something they are told to do. The athletic department in fact has asked them not to do it. Our tailgate talked to Geoff Brown about it yesterday as it was occurring. Somebody took a video of it and Geoff asked that it be sent to him and he will follow up on it. So this is not a case of people whining about something the police were told to do. They were not told to do it, at least not by the athletic department. To me it isn't a big deal, but a temporary minor annoyance that they are doing something they don't need to do. We just move the tables so they can get through, and then move the tables back. Silly.

Were you the crew in the yellow lot directly opposite us?

I posted this in the past;
1.Rutgers pays these various agencies at a OT rate to work the football game.
2.RU,short of stadium security, can tell the police (working for Rutgers on gameday) what they want enforced. RU however cant tell the police to ignore a crime ect..
3. RU needs to have one agency in charge with all having the same uniform approach on gameday..not having as an example, Middlesex County sherriffs going crazy over one 20 year old having a beer with his/her family,or driving like idiots thru tailgate setups, when there are clear lanes between parked vehicles elsewhere..
Rutgers is paying for security and needs to have all agencies applying the same guidelines for enforcement throughout the entire complex on gameday,or just dont rehire that agency that dosent follow the RU guidelines.. not hard ....

how about at 11:20 I couldnt walk with my beer to look at my brick because I had to dump it out first because for some reason they dont allow you to drink coming up from blue or yellow but of course there are thousands drinking in green and scarlet a few feet from the stadium and of course in the fanzone...brilliant
This made no sense to me over the years - has been that way going back to pre Schiano days - there are people drinking all over the place around Scarlet Green Brown and White - my only guess is that the students were historically in Blue and this policy is their way of limiting alcohol into the stadium by drunk students - they should reconsider the policy.

its not like they would be able to get into the stadium anyhow with their bottles so yeah it makes no sense especially when there are other garbage disposals before you get to the stadium enterence

Actually, if you walk through the Yellow lot to Sutphen Road and then walk down Sutphen Road toward the stadium you bypass the beer confiscation center.

Correct. It's not really a big deal. But it's a dumb thing to be irritating tailgaters who paid to be in the various lots while also putting them at (slight) risk of being hit by one of these ATVs navigating tight spaces crowded with people drinking.

They were told, last season, or maybe the season before - I forget which, NOT to drive in the rows, but to restrict the ATVs to the pathways up the middle of the lots. And up until this past Saturday, it hasn't been happening.

I had multiple conversations with the deputy chief of Rutgers PD last year. He told me that there were supposed to be foot patrols only thru the aisles & the ATVs were for up &,down the perimeter. that held true most of last year and up until yesterday in the Blue Lot. Early in the AM they came through on their ATV's down the first row.

Shortly after, the people at the far end of the row, set their tent up ...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AISLE. I can't make this up. seriously, right smack in the middle of the aisle. Back of the tent towards the soccer stadium, cars to the left and right. No LEO's bothered them at all.

As I said earlier, they rode through the 2nd row of the Yellow lot, too. What's funny is that they *can't* ride through the first row, because the first row is set up so that the tailgates run between the cars and the fence around kiddie playland or whatever it is.

The guys across from us were extremely inconvenienced and pissed off. Fortunately, Pat, Sarah, Maggie and Rich stopped by my tailgate about 15 minutes later so they were able to hear the story. We were ASSURED - as you have been - that the cops are NOT supposed to be doing this. So all the people pissing and moaning about "they're just doing their jobs" really need to find something else to do with their time.

@RC1978 Did they drive by you in Yellow?

Didn't see them being in front row. Just hope the wanna be fire chiefs don't mess with our heaters again come PSU.

We had a battle of wits after he confronted us. I can say with a high level of confidence that Mensa was not on his resume.

Yeah, on the night in question we were doing just fine with the "back and forth". Then he put his hands on me. Shit went pretty sideways from there.

We arrived in blue at about 9:30. One of our longtime season ticket holders brought his daughter and her boyfriend, both 22 years old. MCSD guys came riding down the row and ask the people next to us to move their setup for a fire lane. Then they asked for ID from my friends daughter and boyfriend. They were sitting in chairs talking to each other, not loud, sipping beer in red cups, not drunk, no loud music, not doing anything that would warrant an ID check. I find that totally unreasonable and unjustified. I have no problem with an appropriate police presence or police doing their job if a situation calls for them to do so; that was not the case here. My friend's other kids went to Alabama and Clemson and he just shook his head at the small-time behavior at Rutgers games (by the way, both he and is wife got their MBAs from Rutgers and support the university). Ultimately was it a big deal? Maybe not but it detracts from the game day experience. I don't know if Rutgers athletic department or Rutgers police force or some other entity at Rutgers is responsible for providing MCSD guidelines and tone but I'll be emailing Hobbs to express my displeasure. This is not the first time we've seen MCSD display this type of behavior and it almost always has targeted an attractive female.

Nope. Just good ol' fashioned misspelling. Thanks.
Question, if you know the answer. Maybe @e5fdny might know . Is the game day police and emergency services run using the Incident Command System? If so, who is typically the Incident Commander--someone from Rutgers, Middlesex County Sheriff or someone else?

I can't give you an answer other than the one you already know - that they *should* be using ICS and that the Incident Commander *should* be the ranking field officer from RUPD, since it's technically their scene. Whether they do it that way or not, your guess is as good as mine.

I can find out pretty quick, though.

Anybody else notice the constant here? Something in bold maybe?

Have their detail only involve in-Stadium stuff and not with the Lots.

Collectively they are not what you would call "people-people". In their eyes we are all bad guys because that's all this group sees during their regular work week.

Exactly.

Rutgers Athletics (and RUPD) is what's known in ICS terminology as the agency administrator. This is who the boss in something like this, the incident commander, reports to. They set the rules and what the IAP (Incident Action Plan) should be. A good IAP spells out EVERYTHING right down to the little things and the fine print. It is supposed take into account just about anything that could happen and what you should do and where you should be. Every guy and gal should have a copy in the side pockets of their BDU pants.

If somebody doesn't want to follow the rules in the IAP set forth by Rutgers then don't come for the $80 an hour (plus lunch) to look at college girls for 8-12 hrs. I am sure there are many depts. close by who would love to play ball and get a piece of this for their members.

I was a little surprised to see South Brunswick cops patrolling in the stadium yesterday. The ones I saw seemed to be enjoying themselves and were clearly not going around giving people a hard time. Which is how it ought to be, IMO. Be there, be vigilant and prepared. But if people are having fun safely, leave them be.

I think you've probably hit the nail on the head.

If you were getting $80-85 an hour (plus lunch) to walk around and engage a happy group of people (for the most part) and check out the talent on a beautiful Fall day wouldn't you be an a good mood too?

Yes 100% true ,Rutgers is paying the OT bill to all these PDs..someone at RU PD has to be in charge of this multi jurisdictional gigantic off duty job for many police officers...Too many departments doing their own levels of enforcement..someone at RU athletics or RU Pd needs to reign this in..

And that's what a properly worded IAP does.

It covers a lot of ground....Stadium Sector, Blue Lot Sector, radio frequencies, weather report, phone numbers, etc.

I thought bac was a tough and in shape guy. And he comes on a message board and complains the first sign of conflict at 10 Am. In the morning ?
Pathetic

BAC is 100% spot-on. 2 years ago, the day of the Michigan game, 2 of the ATV's decided to come barreling through the 1st row (maybe 2nd) of tailgates, in the purple lot, with 2 of them destroying a couple pieces of tailgating equipment that belonged the the group across the aisle from us. They didn't care, they don't care, and they SHOULDN'T be doing that bullshit. Bottom line.

So, it can be one of three things:
1. There is no IAP-shame on RU.
2. There is an IAP, and the duties/responsibilities of the various agencies, task forces, sectors, etc (been a while since I looked at all the terminology) are not spelled out clearly--shame on RU.
3. IAP is clear. Freelancing by the MCSO ATV "strike teams" :grimace:. Shame on RU for allowing freelancing.
