RAC Naming Rights--After This Week

No. No it does not.

If we are receiving 70 million a year from the B1G and still consistently losing, I promise you it has nothing to do with the additional 2 mill you’re missing out on because of keeping the RAC.

Rutgers Stadium vs High Point Solutions Stadium.

The RAC vs Hansel and Griddle Arena

Jesus. Have we learned nothing?

The RAC name does not help the program win games.. ....if a portion of the $ from naming rights goes to the recruiting budget for example... That helps and is more important than keeping a name.

Are you saying the High Point Solutions name has harmed the football program? The money was not a lot but it certainly helped.. .however small. Maybe it hurt attendance at games... Fans were looking for Rutgers Stadium and could not find a Stadium with that name on it so they went home.... Lol

I think it definitely matters in name recognition which in term matters in recruiting which impacts winning.

You can disagree, but when the RAC was rockin people knew the RAC. It took on a life of its own, and its name is certainly part of it.

RU has basically only 2 equities ...maybe 3. The birthplace. The cannon. And the RAC.

This is exactly why they should not sell the rights to the football stadium again.

They need to keep it and rename it “The Birthplace”.

Rutgers has tradition. We just do an absolutely terrible job at using it to our advantages.

Yes, but, Even when it was The Louis Brown Athletic Center it was still known as The RAC.

A winning program under Pikiell is all that matters. .. The name on the building is secondary. Recruits will come if you win and they visit to see and experience the atmosphere inside. ..not the name of your building. .

You're right. But it isn't about recruits but media and national recognition. So when analyst say the RAC...it is like saying Death Valley. Or Between the Hedges. Or The Pit. Or the (carrier) Dome.

Do you really think a 16 or 17 year old kid being recruited cares about The BirthPlace or a Cannon?

It's all about The Recruits...the only reason you win or lose.

Media and National recognition come from winning.... The run at MSG in the B1G Tourney just proved that.
yeah...and that ties it all together. If you're saying there is no perceived value to a name than what are they selling? On air mentions?

The RAC has value and why people love calling it that. Its why you have Choppin in our handle. Well just disagree.

Honestly it’s one of those things you either get or you don’t.

IMO there is no price tag on The RAC.

If they plan on issuing bonds supported by the parking revenue, I call that funky budgeting. Unless they add events at the RAC, how will parking revenue increase from what is generated now? So effectively we will be taking money already in the budget and allocating it to this bond payment.
Technically parking decks are self supporting entities under university accounting rules. That means they have to generate revenue to cover their costs. Same holds true for dorms, dining halls, football stadiums, and other operations. As such it is common practice to sell bonds to cover there construction costs

Although everyone refers to it as the RAC and the logo is painted on the court, I was wondering, did Rutgers officially change the name back from Louis Brown Athletic Center to the Rutgers Athletic Center? I have seen it both ways on TV broadcasts and in Google searches but it is listed as the RAC on ScarletKnights.com athletic facilities.

Victoria Secrets RAC.

I'll drink to that!
