Nice!

It would be nice if stuff like this were uploaded to You Tube in the future so folks could listen "on demand". There are very few old RU athletics shows or broadcasts on You Tube. Now, a lot of old football and games on TV were probably ugly but it is still cool to see or hear this stuff. Just found the December 1981 UNC-RU hoops tv broadcast at MSG on You Tube. Yeah, we ended up getting blown out in the second half but it was still cool seeing Hinson, Battle, Ellerbe, Tillman, Black, Nieberlein and Co. against Worthy, Jordan, and Perkins.

There are plenty of radio broadcasts of other athletic events on You Tube so audio only is still cool.

Perhaps an email to WRSU might work

On Rutgers Day 2017, WRSU brought you live inside the College Avenue Gym, affectionately known as “The Barn,” for the court dedication in honor of Jim Valvano. Find the audio to listen to that broadcast below, as well as the 1967 NIT Quarterfinal win over New Mexico from Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of College Basketball, and an interview with Lee Ginsberg, one of the two WRSU student announcers who broadcast every game of that magical 1966-67 season.

I was there at the "old"Garden..Remember watching the late great Jimmy Walker of Providence put on a great show in first game..Garden was full and rocking and R.U. was definitely an up and coming program..Hard to believe 50 years have passed and we are still rebuilding ..

WRSU to air live the Valvano ceremony, followed by followed by a rebroadcast of Rutgers' 1967 NIT Quarterfinal win over New Mexico!

Thank you for posting. This occurred my first year on the banks (I transferred from RU- Newark my junior year).

Listened to the game...same as I did over 50 years ago. Several things struck me:
1. The broadcasters for WRSU were GOOD (very good description of fast moving plays).
2. Lloyd, Valvano, Gracen / Stewart: we had 4 scoring options. Seems like NO ONE MISSED A FT (believe Lloyd led the nation that year, and hit a then record 60 in a row at one point in the season)
3. Lloyd grabbed his share of rebounds...more than I would have guessed (can't find a box score but guessing he's closer to 10 than 5
4. It was interesting to hear some of the pricing of the sponsor (Shelley's bookstore...Memories)
5. There were less commercials / time outs then....I definitely like the flow of the game better than today's truncated, prepackaged model
6. RUTGERS OWNED MSG: listen to the broadcast....FANTASTIC (suggest every Rutgers player, fan / recruit hear the enthusiasm - it can only help Pikiell / RU basketball.

Again, thanks for posting.

I don't want to hear the SIU game ...I remember feeling great at the half (think we were up close to 10) / washed out at the end (think we lost by 11).

But would like to hear the 3rd place game against Marshall (didn't they have a star player named Marshall). Believe Lloyd went off big time in that game (not looking it up).

Bob Lloyd scored 42 in the Marshall game and ended up with 129 for the Tournament which was a 4 game record at the time. Don't know if it was ever broken because the NIT format changed years later.
Marshall had a great player named George Stone who also scored big against Nebraska, 119-81.
Lloyd led the nation in FT % at 92 % and averaged something like 28 ppg as a senior. Too bad the 3 point shot wasn't allowed when he played because he took NBA 3' s as normal shots. In those days the other player I remember making those shots was a guy on Princeton named Campbell.
NIT was a big deal because the NCAA' s was a pipedream. Real excitement to be a RU fan in the 60' s.

There was a frosh on Princeton named Geoff Petrie...sort of a Bradley lite (but who wouldn't be).

I remember him devouring our Frosh team...and thinking they were lucky to land another stud.

Move forward to 2012....I reconnected with my g/f from Rutgers (she was a senior at East Brunswick High when I was a senior @ RU...and is the reason I chose to go to grad school in CA- she was from San Jose/ Cupertino area).

She / her husband (deceased) bought a house in West Linn area of Oregon (near lake Oswego) owned by Geoff Petrie / wife (they were going thru a nasty divorce).

Found it interesting... and somewhat ironic.

Petrie had a stellar NBA career shortened (1970-76) by a knee injury. He's credited as the first NBA player to switch from 1970's iconic brand Converse to Nike.

Unbelievable set of circumstances to connect all the parties. I remember him too, great player and perfect for PU. The other thing is that Princeton was in the West Regional when Bradley was there and he scored some ridiculous amount of points in that tournament. I want to say he scored 50 one game, but my memory might be playing a on joke on me.
It was always nice to watch the frosh play before the varsity and see what was coming up for the next season especially if you had a crummy team.

Flat out if you or anyone was to name the 10 greatest college players of all time (including now)....we might have 9 other players, but Bradley would be one of the 10. Period!

As I remember Bradley went off for over 50+ in the NCAA's but lost(attached) .
I was rooting for PU & New Jersey

You think that's unbelievable get the REST of the story. The guy my fiancée married worked in the same office (They shared one) @ HP as Steve Wozniak. In fact they used to go bowling together and he threw a bachelor party for the Woz (first marriage).

TIme passes and Woz / Jobs were working out of their garage (Cupertino, Los Altos ...not sure). They offered him a job (he would have been # 5 man at Apple). He said "No". And started his own companies (none that anyone ever heard of). Woz / Jobs offered him again awhile later (he would have been #11). Again he said "No" and told his wife (my g/f) ..."why would I want to work out of their garage"?

He admitted it was the biggest mistake of his career.

He realized before he died (2011) that he "blew it". I don't know why I identify with this story....but if he had accepted either position I'd probably have High Point Solutions stadium renamed "Rutgers Stadium" with a wing for students with approximately a 2.5 gpa (not the 3.5 -4.0 crowd) who play cards, pool, basketball, bowl, football, stickball and cut classes, chase girls (not harass, just looking for cheap thrills - mutual) because who needs to get up at 7 am for an 8 am drooze- a -thon ....and call it the RutgersMO Pavilion.

MO
PS Fiancee still in touch with her sister in law, who was friends with Jobs' sister. And Woz used to ride the bus that she took to go to school. Christ....if I only had the money to make the film/ make money and become the Phil Knight of Rutgers!
