I nominate Jeff Hafley as the candidate for Head Coach!
1) Rutgers has never seen a better recruiter than Jeff. The most important asset of a Head Coach. Bar none.
2) College (RU) and Pro (Bucs & Browns) SUCCESS in coaching the secondary.
3) 36 yrs of age: Able to relate and communicate with the H.S. Seniors of today.
4) A native of Montvale, NJ (parents still live there?).
5) A super personality and winning demeanor which will enable him to hire the best staff and place confidence in his OC, DC and coaches.
6) As his first head coaching gig, would be affordable for R.U.

As much as I want Hafley back on the staff, HC or DC is not the position for him at this time.

Sorry, but recruiting is half the battle. I want someone who has been a successful HC before. I would however love him on staff.

his success is beyond question.
But it was, somewhat , predicated by the fact he was recruiting north Jersey , for Pitt, for years before that and the connection with him was excellent
10 on all scores for recruiting
But he has been totally out of that loop for 5 years. the majority of coaches he worked so well with, except Toal, are gone. Ergo no connections
Excellent for what he did it would be back to square one to establish relationships.

But the thinking is sound. Juxtapose the 2012 Hafley to this current team and he would become a highly prized asset. But don't forget Ang was part of that also

He was here one year.

Yet many credit him for the large number of RU players who have made the NFL over the past decade. None of those players would have ever considered RU if that God had not stopped by for one year. Never been anything close to a coordinator, hire for the head job at RU. Without him GS would have never been able to win any games.

DC under Schiano

I give him major props for getting the Nova commitment (had committed to Pitt before coaching change). He also flipped Marquise Wright (4*) and Max Issaka. Excellent recruiting assistant coach. Would love to have him back in a more important role. But the head guy has to close the deal. But Halfley's work at RU is majorly overrated/urban legend.

Cignetti was the DC in 2011, Halfley has been strictly a d'back coach.

I'm talking future not the past but your still incorrect as Cignetti was OC

You are right, Fraser was the DC in 2011 with GS calling all of the shots. I'd love to have Halfley as the DC under GS right now. Halfley could focus on recruiting, GS coach the defense, and get an innovative OC. But I know that GS will want to play it conservative when we have leads, grind it out style. Don't see us throwing the ball around when we have a lead which might frustrate an OC.
