Remember when special teams were a strengths?

Think Schiano, he realized that to close the talent gap he needed to throw everything into special teams, even if that meant using starters. He carbon copied what was done at Virginia Tech by HC Frank Beamer.

Agree with RUready. That is a practice Flood continued. I do not think our talent level is anywhere near as low as what Schiano inherited.

the Schiano/Flood years are over, those coaches and that legacy is history so this coaching staff will write its own history on special teams

100% agree. It's the chosen philosophy of this coaching staff, and I fear they have over looked a key element to helping win with inferior talent.

Was the difference today for sure.

Turay in thete forbkick block - so much for the know it all's claiming that because this post surgery condition he would not be in there for kick blocks. Just shows you that the staff has it correctly utilize them all year if he's able to be in a kick blocks.

Okru h should be locked in a room with tapes of the GS last five years of special teams and told to attempt to replicate

Hate to break the news to you guys but we haven't been good - OTHER THAN GRANT - on ST's for a few years now. Yes, we had a couple of blocks thanks to Turay, but our kick/punt teams have stunk, our block production down, our kicking has been below average, so this was all coming to be honest. The lack of speed on this team is stunning and it shows on ST's more than anywhere else.

That being said hopefully this, too, is a little bit of a "learning curve" for Okruch.

Or maybe you're just, uhm, wrong and he's simply not good enough, or healthy enough, to be in their on D right now?

Ha Were you one of those who tried to tell us turay would not be in on kick blocks this year? That said with conviction renet didnt turn out accurate did it

Nope. Not me. What I said was - and many others did as well - not to expect him to be starting and hope that he'd be ready to by October. From the looks of it today, when he was in there for D, we might only be seeing him on ST's from now on but let's hope he turns it around.

Our coverage has been horrible all season. Kickers and punters even worse. Today they lost the game for us. The missed extra point changed this from a likely overtime to a loss. Because of the miss we had to go for 2 later. These two missed extra points were the margin in the game. MN field goal would have tied it at the end, instead they won by two. On top of that the KO return for TD was totally on the kicker. The coverage ran to the place he hits his 30 yd line flop. But he didn't hit it there...he banged it his hardest down to the 10. As such, the whole coverage was out of position creating an easy TD return. In some countries they would chop off the foot of kickers who commit these sort of offenses.

Remember when Donald Trump was just a wacky real estate guy? Thing change .Sometimes for better. Sometimes for worse.
