Nothing else needs to be said.

Rettig almost doubled Laviano's output with 1 pass.

Rivals had it right, as did ever other coach in CFB. He is a 2* talent.

His stats weren't posted.

When your starting QB throw for 31 yards in 3 1/2 quarters, don't you want to the back up?

No hyperbole- I have never seen a qb with such an awful stat line. I am guessing he isn't the top ranked B1G qb anymore.
what

Yeah we get it. You want Rettig to start.
You don't?

They don't even try to throw downfield with CL. And he really isn't that accurate on short throws either. We do not have now and may never have talent on the O line to line up and pound the ball against a decent D that can put 8 in the box. Our career mediocre O Line coach wants to do that

Which compounds the fact that team's just stack the box focus on the run. Worst case scenario they give up a 5 yard completion.

4/14 for 31 yards. That is horrifically bad. Some of those 14 looked like a D3 QB.

Our Jr Midget team that is 8-0 QB has better stats all year then that

Play calling too.Run the ball on ist and 2nd and 3rd and nine the other teams know you are going to throw the ball

I agree that Rettig should have been put in, no doubt about that. Neither QB is very good. Laviano looked terrible. Half of it is on him and the other half is on the coaches and the players around him. The OLine looked terrible today as well. Receivers could not get separation. It is tough when you have a third and long just about every series because we run on first and second down every play.

Rettig has a cannon but some of his passes were awful. He had a very impressive pass to Agodusi but that's about it. He's also not as mobile as Laviano. He gives us a deep threat but in other areas he gives up a lot. I mean he tripped over his own feet.

I understand why the QB competition was so close. Both of them are not that good.

Laviano's inability to even threaten to stretch the field makes everything so difficult. You can't expect to have 15 play drives to put points on the board every time. You must take shots and have some big plays.

So let's keep trotting out the QB that got us to 3-5.

Worst performance since Ryan Cubit went for 4 for 14 for 27 yards against West Virginia in that terrible 80-7 loss in 2001.

No, but the QB is the most important. You play the guy with the arm when the other guy doesn't have one. It's that simple.

No it's not.

Cardale Jones has one of the best arms in the nation and yet JT Barrett is now the starter (or would have been if he didn't get a DUI).

Your analogy would make sense if Laviano was JT Barrett.
The problem here is people think Rettig is Cardale Jones. He's not. I know it's hard to believe after that awful performance but maybe, just maybe Laviano is still the best QB on the team. It's a tough pill to swallow isn't it? But that is where we are as a program. It's a sad sad thought.

Some of his passes were awful? Did you even watch the game?

Or maybe he isn't. That's the point. When he comes in, he makes things look better. Let's see what he can do with more meaningful minutes. Its very safe to say we know what we have with Laviano.

No one can say we know exactly what we have with Rettig, except a guy with a better arm. His body of work isn't enough to put him in the box you are putting him in, and if it was enough to make a determination, you could say he is better than Laviano. Let the kid play and let's find out.

The starter just went 4/14 for 31 yards and has put up 6 points in 2 games. It is way past due to see what Rettig really has.

You're a really tough grader. Rettig sits on the bench all season and he has mere minutes to impress and you're telling us he is "not that good." Give Rettig the job and let's see. At minimum he will make some spectacular passes, open the game up and add excitement.

Well, the RU's second punter had almost as many yards on his three punts as the offense had in four quarters.

It wouldn't matter who the QB is, this team has 2 many holes.
Well, it matters to Rettig, it matters to the fans and it matters to the recruits who are asking if they want to play for a stubborn, incompetent coach.

Every day in every walk of life, people are called on to do the right thing, to give their best even if the result is the same. When you stop doing that, pride is gone and recovery of the program will be very difficult.

Laviano only had 31 more yards passing than I had from my couch today.

The guy played 3 1/2 quarters and I almost tied him.

It is MIND BLOWING that there are still people basically saying Laviano deserves to get every snap until we are down by 30+ points. How much worse can the offense perform?

News flash: Carroo won't be back next season. Laviano has shown ZERO ability to move the football without Carroo in there. Why would anyone expect that to change?

Conversely, Rettig still hasn't had the opportunity to play with Carroo.

Take away some of those incredible yac's he has had and Laviano would have scary bad stats.

It wouldn't matter who the QB is, this team has 2 many holes.

This seems to be the new rallying cry for Laviano supporters.

It COULD matter. It COULD make a difference. I'm beginning to wonder if Flood isn't the only one worried if Rettig actually does well on the field...

Laviano vs. 1st team defense

Rettig vs. 3rd team defense

Great comparison.;)
and you can thank your moron coach for that..cause we don't get the chance to see otherwise...and don't forget the perfectly thrown drop to Flanegan on that 3rd and 6 (or something like that)..must have been surprised it hit him in the hands so fast...

There are only two people, Skyler and sct who don't see it here.

You know things have hit rock bottom when people are getting excited about a two for six passing stat line.

Great post. Not sure why people can't see this.

You must have missed the 50 yard bomb he connected on. Again.

I missed the 50 yd bomb against the defensive starters. When did that happen? .. I did see his 50 yd bomb against the backups. Nice throw there. Couldn't connect on some mid range passes against the starters facing a pass rush however. But he was able to sack himself against the scrubs. Looked sharp on that one. Or was it the 23 yard line that reached up and grabbed him as the announcers said. Felt bad for the kid on that one. Fortunately most people had probably switched channels by then.
