1) That Pike isn’t done tinkering with our lineup, and that’s what these early games are for with such a lot of new players, a brand new team. See who steps up in games that matter… which is here on out. Good job tonight, Pike, overall.

2) It’s clear Rutgers will be playing alot of “small ball” this year, with Ace playing outside/in. Lathan is lost defensively. He didn’t stay with his man and literally ran into JWill leaving that big guy open for an uncontested 3. That was huge. They will play wide open, “position less” ball. Spread the floor and I think that helps Ace. But could hurt playing a real good big man.

3) For those killing JWill, stfu. His heart on D and determination kept us in it. He’s our 6th man anchoring 2nd 5.

4) Acuff is back. He’s going to get the start soon, if not major minutes, especially taking from JMike, who just isn’t a BIG10 guard.

5) Jordans D and rebounding will be crucial this season. His O is “gravy”. His maturity toughness and intensity are needed, along with Martini, whose O is also “gravy”.

6) Finally, Dylan is going to WILL this team to the tournament, no doubt. Ace? Hot and cold, and is more of a “potentially” great player. He will come around… but Harper is our key…obvs.

My 2 cents.

I don’t see either, I see non factor, no impact.

ND was missing their best player. The rebounding disadvantage isn’t going away. Glad we won but team isn’t very good outside of Dylan. B1G coaches will aim to take him away. As for revenge, I’d have taken a ncaa tourney win over a NOV one this year.

Nice win and needed it after that bad loss. How many times did the announcer say "Princeton without their best scorer".

Agree with Zappaa, Ace is not a difference maker ....yet. Yes he made an important shot here and there but so did other players on the team.

maybe 2nd best - still a huge break

Creightons guy is hurt, hopefully we can get them in a matchup. Is that feasible? Havent been paying too close to the structure after it changed from the original format.

I think we get the winner of the Creighton - A and M game.

Burton was their leading scorer and assist leader. Would have changed the game.

For this game, Alloco picked up the slack. Only one guy can score. Remember when RU beat Purdue without Geo (if my memory serves me).

Can't be 'no impact' since the roster was built around him and DH. If he can't produce, and more is expected of less-talented role players to fill the void, this year will be a disappointment.

Would have, may have. Why talk in hypotheticals? Allocco scored 3x his season average (leading into the game) and this was only his 3rd double digit scoring effort the entire year. If Burton plays, does Allocco go off like that? Who knows. It's all pointless jibberish.

You didn’t watch the game last night. His offense was cold. But in the second half especially, he was enabling the team to thrive. He played the last ten minutes of the game at center despite having 4 fouls and altered shots with his length, took away easy passing lanes, allowed switching screens, rebounded, and unclogged the lane for Dylan offensively.

I don’t feel it’s pointless. Don’t want us to get big heads with an OT win over a team that, for a fact, was missing their leading scorer and distributor. There were times their offense went to sleep for long stretches and I don’t think that happens with their Pg. we still have flaws that need to be addressed.

Scoring slack yes, but not the floor general Burton is. Assist leader etc. Allocco poured in some 3s but I’m not too sure with Burton they would have given up leads they had with scoring droughts.

Why stop with JWill? Every player not named Harper got blasted for 45 minutes (and Pikes).

“Rutgers has an extraordinarily difficult remaining schedule -- the second hardest in the nation, by BPI's accounting.”

Meanwhile, this board will freak over every loss. Therefore, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

I’m glad we won last night. That was an important win to get given the upcoming games.

Unfortunately everything I seen from this team so far is pointing towards a resetting of expectations. It feels like a bubble struggle type team , rather than a sweet 16 hopeful. One thing that’s mightily different is that we have two guys - either one can carry us to a win like what Dylan did last night. If both are in top of their game then we’ll see flashes of a sweet 16 caliber team. But so far this season the evidence isn’t there … yet.

The D has a long way to go. But this game showed clear improvement and finally some intensity. I'm just looking for progress.

Ace has farther to go than the rest of the key players. Missing the first few games couldn't have helped.

The O seems to have regressed with not enough sharing the ball in the half court. Transition was good.

Just like with our football injuries-- nobody gives a crap about our injuries as an excuse. A team has to expect them-- you don't dicuss Williams playing with a dislocated shoulder . Making excuses for an opponent suggests you might be a pseudo fan.
Ignoring our shortcomings might mean you’re a pseudo fan. I’m not making excuses for them I’m just saying it would have been a more impressive win for us had he played. Don’t get a big head from last nights win, we have a lot to improve on.

Only pseudo experts around here jump on and off the wagon--- I'm not one of them. One should support their team no matter what and that support has nothing to do with wins.

As someone who’s been “on the wagon”, as you say, since my first game at the RAC 41 years ago I disagree. Maybe it’s because I coached HS basketball I like to analyze. I’m not one who believes fans should just be rah rah and wear rose colored glasses. To me part of being a fan is overthinking about it. Just me. You do you. Happy Thanksgiving!

Ace is very frustrating to watch thus far. Dylan came in not only college basketball ready but he looks NBA ready right now as in he could be in an NBA rotation now. Ace needs to figure it out for this team to maximize its ceiling. Does he have the ability and potential to impact games like Dylan is right now? Yes, but talk about talent and potential becomes cheap at some point. We all thought Ace was as college basketball ready as Dylan has been, but certainly have not seen it. At some point, Rutgers will need Ace’s potential to be a reality to achieve the maximum ceiling. Ace needs to focus on grabbing boards, defense and taking shots within the flow of the offense. Let the game come to him a little more. It feels like Ace is playing to put on a show for scouts every time he steps out there as opposed to just playing the game. The good games will come when he is not looking to force the offense so much. Ace can shoot from three as we saw against Kennesaw, getting him some open looks from three would be ideal as opposed to him forcing bad, contested threes. Better days are ahead for him but with a refocus on how to impact the game. We don’t always need him to be THE MAN, at times just being a man who gets boards and scores 18 points will be what we need to win. Rebounds, rebounds, and more rebounds is what this team needs.

JWill had his best game last night with great D and crucial shots in the paint and on the perimeter.
