BTN was waiting for the NFL playoff schedule to be set before finalizing game times for next Sunday. Since Giants-Packers is at 4:40 we can anticipate RU-Iowa tipping at 2:15 and not 4:30 ET. The other game in the mix for those two time slots is Northwestern-Nebraska.

Should be officially announced later today.

Same situation for the 1/15 RU game at Indiana. Options are noon or 4:30.

Don't I feel like the fool! That kind of contradicts everything they previously said but so be it. The diehards like us will watch RU but ratings for RU will sadly be miniscule.

Very odd move.

I followed the logic...no shame in that.

As a Giants fan this is a bummer.

Mark Rudner is a sheer genius. Let's put a NJ based College Basketball game up against a NJ based NFL team in the playoffs and see how many eyeballs we can draw. That's what you call smart marketing right there folks. Man I hope this guy never becomes commissioner after Delaney leaves. He might just put us on EspnOcho.

DVR for the win!

I know NU was lobbying pretty hard for the early tip. It helps with fans that come from out of town. NU feels they get a "better" crowd at early games on Sunday and it also allows for recruits that fly in attend and still be able to fly out Sunday night. You can actually fly in and out same day from quite a few places when the game is 1:00 cst. Conflict with the NFL is a non issue in Lincoln.

Actually not in this case. Wisconsin-Purdue tips at 4:30 on CBS - directly against the Giants-Packers game on FOX.
I think CBS had no flexibility in this case. CBS has NFL from 12:30pm to 4pm (Steelers vs Dolphins in this case) and followed by Wisconsin vs Purdue which was always at 4:30pm. BTN is the network that supposedly had the flexibility to move start times around but as usually is the case screws RU every chance it gets. Has the big ten ever given RU a scheduling or network TV break? In this case BTN is the loser because their rating on the Rutgers game will be as low as it possibly can get.

Correct about CBS. Rudner pointed that out in his reply to the fan.

No good explanation though for why RU-Iowa wasnt set for 2:30 with Northwestern-Nebraska following.

we were promised that the Big 10 does stuff professionally and different than the Big East but we have already seen that they play favorites just like our former conference especially when it comes to scheduling

I don't think we can complain too much. The big positive is that none of our HOME games conflict with the NFL Playoffs this year. So you can easily DVR the Rutgers Basketball game or NFL Playoff game and have a reasonable chance of not seeing the result beforehand. The dreaded bottom line/ticker is the enemy of this practice but this only comes into play when one of the ESPN channels is broadcasting a game.

I usually feel like a marooon watching one of our games that I have DVR'd ...... you wind up rooting and hoping when it has already been decided

Wow what a dumb post
BTN didn't have control of that game like previously discussed. You can damn well bet the farm if they did Wisconsin wouldn't have gotten that 4:30 ET start. BTN has the flexibility, not CBS and we got screwed once again.
