Revolting fanbase

Shut up. Rettig has it worse. Laviano while it sucked that he got booed at least he got to play all year. Rettig was literally screwed out of a fair shot today and all season. Ask any player and they would 100% rather be getting booed and playing rather than not even being given a fair shot because your head coach is a moron.

You realize college football is a business, the entertainment business, and buying tickets first and foremost is paying for a service.

That's all on the "diehards". The ones who claim to be at that Temple game in th rain.

I can honestly say I was sitting at home watching the 4th quarter when the boos came.

It was definitely wrong to boo him coming back, but where are the people who sympathise with Rettig?

In a game early in the season, Laviano's helmet came off forcing him to the sideline. Rettig goes in, hands off, then is replace by Laviano on the next play for yet another hand off.

Today, Laviano gets hit hard, goes to the sideline. Rettig comes in, hands off, and then gets replaced again by Laviano.

Seriously, Flood could have had the kid at least finish the series. It's the last game of the season. People are rightfully complaining about those who booed when Laviano returned, but how about giving a damn about Rettig's feelings? To me, these two instances go far in backing up the idea that the QB situation was rather PERSONAL.

Both guys deserved better today imo.

Yep, all the people who have been daring us to stay home or leave completely ...it's their die-hard comrades who were booing. I sure as hell wasn't there watching that garbage in person.

I thought they were the "good" fans LMAO.

Most inappropriate time to boo a player I've ever witnessed
Completely agree. I don't want Flood to be our coach. I didn't boo the PSA, but understand the resentment of the fans towards him. I think Retting should have been given more of a shot this year. You simply do not boo a guy who is giving his all, and was coming in from his injury. It was sickening, one of the most classless events I've witnessed as an RU fan.

So what you're saying is that people actually paid for the chance to act like douchebags? Now it all makes sense.

If Laviano was injured as some people claim, because afterall they were on the sidelines to see to his injury, why was he put back in? And the season is over time to move on kids! WE WILL ALL BE BACK NEXT YEAR! LETS GO DEVILS!

Just my opinion, but I thought the booing was directed at the coaching staff for not giving Rettig more of a chance to play, and for not letting Laviano have more time to recover from the wicked shot he took.

Booing has a long tradition, from the ancient Greeks who booed at bad performances, to 19th and 20th century opera audiences who booed at poorly produced operas. It is a legitimate form of expressing displeasure.

Big time college sports is part of the entertainment business. You pay $$$ for a ticket expecting to see a decent product on the field. If the product is god awful, you have a right to boo.

Exactly. It's amazing this idiotic Poster can't figure it out.
The fans were booing Elmer Fudd for pulling Rettig after one play.

Believe it or not getting booed can have a positive outcome. Sometimes boos build character. That's right, work a little harder in the weight room, get that arm strength up, improve your speed and lead by example. Sometimes you boo an innocent kid in order to try and stimulate change at the very top. I agree, let's keep it classy but please stop being so sensitive.

It's amazing that idiot posters can't figure out that it doesn't matter who the moronic fans were booing. Either they were booing Laviano directly, or they were booing the coach for putting Laviano back in. Either way, it's a totally classless, moronic, childish, self-defeating thing to be doing at that point in the game.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Not gonna condone booing an injured player, but god what is wrong with KF throwing an injured player back in especially when you have a good backup.

Guy is a moron, that guy is such a doofus he would put in Laviano even if was Weekend at Bernie's style. He doesn't know when to stop

So last night I ordered something for my son for Christmas and I got an e-mail today while I was at the crapfest game that it has been shipped. For that great service there shall be no booing but a standing ovation!

They were booing Rettig being pulled out and not being allowed to play. This is what you get when you leave your starter in for 22 quarters of not throwing a TD. Through blow out after blowout where every single fan in the entire base is practically begging you to start the other guy in the second half. You boil the blood of the fan base like that and ugly stuff happens.

And for what? You think Laviano is a better QB knowing the whole fan base wants the other guy? Of course not.

Flood's a moron for creating this situation. He's a moron for establishing the run into the third quarter as double digit leads doubled and doubled again on him while he kept playing like the score was 7-3, leaving in a QB who couldn't convert a 3rd and long for an entire season.

I do feel badly for Laviano. He's a good, tough kid who deserved to be handled better by his HC and given a break when he was struggling. Now, no matter what he does, everyone still wants the other guy. It's stupid to leave in a struggling QB, every one knows that but Elmer Fudd.

Meh...it's not like its High Mass at St. Peter's or anything...
I've allowed my Catholicism to lapse a tiny bit, and I haven't spoken to them personally about this specific situation, but I feel pretty certain neither God nor Jesus would have approved of booing Laviano, or booing Flood about Laviano, at the time Laviano was retaking the field.

Cool story....just go shop for my Lo Bro

it's a dig at the OP who said that shutting his pie hole during the "twirling rifles" at a military academy isn't necessary because it's not "High Mass at St. Peter's."

It seems to me, that if you're gonna be an athletically unaccomplished douchebag, the venue shouldn't matter
