Yes. A good news football thread!

Greg reels in WVU TE transfer Jovani Haskins.

The 6-foot-4, 245 pound athlete from Bergenfield, NJ began his career at Miami before transferring to the Mountaineers.

Haskins was the #4 ranked prospect and #6 tight end overall in the 2016 New Jersey recruiting class according to 247Sports. Coming out of high school, Haskins had offers from Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers and others. He took official visits to West Virginia and Miami before ultimately choosing the Hurricanes. Haskins redshirted as a freshman at Miami before transferring to West Virginia and sitting out his redshirt freshman year as per transfer rules.

Haskins made a splash in his redshirt sophomore year, finishing the season with 16 catches for 148 yards and a touchdown. He earned Third Team All Big 12 Conferences honors. Expectations were running high prior to the start of the 2019 season, but an injury-plagued second season in Morgantown resulted in only 4 receptions. In two seasons on the field, Haskins caught 20 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown.

COVID waiver to play right away? Otherwise, he'll have redshirt & only have 1 year to play.

He’s a good kid, who made a few off the field mistakes and hopefully learned from them. He had the injury bug and kinda got buried in the depth chart behind two RS freshman. Hopefully a change of scenery will do him good and he ends his career on a high note. Was disappointed to see him leave bc when healthy he was a player.

god how I'd love a dependable TE target we use often. Lewis and Alaimo are solid.. we need to use that position more on those play-action seam routes... keep the safeties and LBs honest. I think nothing demoralizes a DB corps more than having to tackle big TEs rumbling through their secondary... hmm.. maybe big RBs.

Averaging 10 catches 83 yds. and 1/2 touchdown a season at WVU this isn't a slam dunk . But being that our predecessor left the position pretty bare his senior leadership hopefully makes this a good pick up. At worst it provides some depth to get Rutgers through this season.

Holgerson didn’t utilize the TE much. His offense was completely down field passes. He was a great asset when blocking however and probably would have had a bigger rule in the offense under Brown. Injury bug really hit him hard.

He was a big-time talent coming out of h.s. and had a really strong season with WVU when he was healthy, in a downfield passing system as you say. IF he stays healthy here I think he's going to start and help us a lot.

I think he only played two games last year.
