Minnesota barely beats Omaha 68-64. It’s a one-man band up there with Dawson Garcia scoring 24 points.

Nebraska barely beats Bethune-Cookman 63-58 as the Huskers shot 19-55 (4-22). (Gavin with 3 points FYI).

Northwestern loses at Dayton 71-66 after holding a 32-24 lead at halftime. Nick Martinelli (32 points) shouldering the load without injured Brooks Barnhizer, and with Ty Berry struggling again (0 points on 0-5 shooting) as the primary SG.

Washington loses at Nevada 63-53. Great Osobor was not so great, with just 3 points on 0-7 shooting.

Before last night, the Big Ten was 27-1, with the lone loss being #22 UCLA losing at home 72-64 to New Mexico on Friday night. The Bruins had a woeful shooting night (20-55, 5-23) and had a whopping 21 turnovers.

Just one bad night, I know.

I read some stuff about Washington being good. Don't buy it.

In my projected standings the four that played yesterday are my bottom four so not too concerned after last night about the conference. Plus the losses were to good teams. Even though I am kind of doubtful Dayton is at large good this year, still not the worst loss in the world especially without Barnhizer but I would be a bit concerned as it looks like NW has zero guard play when that was a major strength for them last year.

Washington has a Top 25/50 true frosh in Zoom Diallo who didn't start in his 1st game, but they have a new HC (Danny Sprinkle), so it may take half a season for Sprinkle to get Diallo going and Washington paid a boatload for Grant Osobor out of the portal, another name that some RU fans wanted to land as a replacement for Cliff.

Osobor went 0-7 from the field vs Nevada in 30 minutes for just 3 points and Ziallo played just 4 minutes and had four fouls with no points. I am fairly certain Osobor and Diallo will be much more consistent as the season moves forward, although I never saw the price tag making sense for Osobor, he allegedly picked up more NIL money than almost everyone in the portal. Overpaying guarantees nothing these days.

Michigan playing what is supposed to be a good Wake Forest team today down in Greensboro. Should give a decent indication of how they'll be this year.

Do think PSU better than all those teams who lost other than UCLA. Older team again. Think better than predicted.

Great Osobor sounds like an island in the Bahamas

Watched the whole game.

It is so tough to tell how RU matches up with any teams, so early with so few games (having seen RU play just 1 game - and without Bailey, and having seen Michigan, now, for 1 game).

But, just looking at Michigan (and actually I watched parts of an earlier game of Michigan's):

1) Michigan LOVES to shoot the ball .. and shoot, and shoot ... especially from 3-point range. They shoot the 3 a LOT ... and shoot ... and shoot ... and they shoot it fast.

2) Though neither was great this game, they do start those 2 7-foot transfers ... Wolf is the better player, IMO (the stretch forward) - Goldin is the purer center - and will have good games and bad.

3) They really push the pace ... really. But are also sloppy with the ball at this stage, a

4) Despite the height do not seem to have great mid-range or post defense, though they do have length. Wake Forest repeatedly was able to drive into the lane, and got a ton of relatively open mid-range shots ... of course, Salas is a terrific mid-range player for Wake Forest. And Wake likes to push the pace also.

5) Did I mention it? Michigan's players really like to shoot the 3-point shot.

Overall, the game was VERY fast-paced, by both sides ... very helter skelter on offense and defense ... both teams were athletic.
