RU wrestles 1-1 Army at 10 and 3-5 Davidson at 12. Army comes in with a loss to Ohio State 37-6 and a win over F & M by 36-6. Army was 3rd at the NY State Championships with 128.5 points behind Hofstra and Champion Cornell. They were a respectable 16th out of 39 teams at Cliff Keene in Vegas with 30.5 points. Davidson beat Johns Hopkins, Alderson-Brodus and Belmont Abbey and lost 36-9 to Maryland; 21-13 to Ohio Northern;39-0 to Drexel; 48-3 to Princeton and 47-6 to Northwestern.
Army has #13 ranked Russell Parsons at 157 Chandler Smith at a 14-2 record at 165. Andrew mendel at 149, Brian Harvey at 174 and Austin Wilding at 184 are all tough kids.

Army vs RU probable lineups

125 McCabe vs Sean Badua
133 Delvecchio vs Christian Doyle
141 Ashnault vs Logan Everett 11-7
149 Theobold vs Andrew Mendel 10-4
157 Perotti vs # 13 Russell Parsons 12-4
165 Gravina vs Chandler Smith 14-2
174 Backukas vs Brian Harvey 8-5
184 Hrymack vs Austin Wilding 10-5
197 Normandia vs Stephen Snyder
285 Smith vs Mucon Kumashiro or Trevor Smith

We should have enough depth to overcome some tough wrestlers and defeat Army in a close match.

RU vs Davidson

125 McCabe vs ? (they have forfeited here)
133 Delvecchio vs Anthony Elias 2-2 on the year but their best kid
141 Ashnault vs James McCord 4-5
149 Theobold vs Kevin Birmingham 9-3
157 Perrotti vs Zach Colangelo 3-2
165 Gravina or Orr vs Patrick Devlin 2-9
174 Backukas vs Nathan Powers or Konner Pritchard 1-5
184 Hyrmack vs Ryan Devlin 1-7
197 Normandia vs Ian Solcz 8-5
285 Smith or Bernard vs Eddie Isola 2-7

This should allow us to get some valuable points toward the pin pool.

My opinion, Army match will not be close. 157, 165, and 197 are the only matches that are up in the air to me. I see RU winning 8 matches against Army.

Davidson, I would say Their best wrestler is South Jerseys Kevin Birmingham at 149. I see this match as a shut out. Would like to see RU make a strong statement here going into the B1G schedule. I want to shut up my friends that keep texting me every week that Rider is ranked higher than Rutgers.

Looking forward to see Smith and Gravina wrestle.

Birmingham is a pinner and Theo has a tendency to get over aggressive which usually leads to putting himself in some tricky situations at least a couple time per match. If he does that against Birmingham, he could get stuck. Going to need good fundamental wrestling to avoid that. Having said that, I think Theo pulls it out.
