It was nice to see accolades for RU in USA Today, as they named Rutgers one of the top 10 schools for women's basketball and academics.

Are we in the Top Ten in terms of coach's remuneration ?

The combination of success on the court and the classroom is recognition Rutgers should be proud of and could be used in attracting future recruits.

Very nice recognition. And some good company there as well.

I wonder if they do that kind of ranking for D1A football programs. We could well hit the Top 10 in that as well.

The most startling fact there was that 93% of the student body is from NJ. I am quite doubtful about that. Does anyone know if that is referring to undergrads only? Most major research universities (like RU) have grad student bodies that are often in the 35-50% range foreign students so they alone would bring the overall % to under 90%. And there are many out-of-state undergrads, including athletes. So 93% seems too high to me.

In the discussion on another board, there was some surprise at Vandy being in there, and also some discussion because of recent transfers from that program.

In any case, someone was poking at some IRS form where you can get salary figures for the top earners at a non-profit and for a recent year coach Melanie Balcomb's compensation was north of 2.4 million, about 1.4 in W-2 wages. A nice incentive, $600,000+ in "deferred compensation" and some other stuff that probably included health insurance.

This should reaffirm BeK's "no" to your question.
