Just one WNIT game today, and it didn't involve an RU opponent, but I'll report it anyway because otherwise there wouldn't be anything to post.

Southern Mississippi 76 Eastern Michigan 65 - Golden Eagles were paced by 23 and 10 from Tamara Jones

Today:

NCAA 0-0 (best possible record 0-0)

WNIT 0-0 (best possible record 0-0)

Overall:

NCAA 8-5 (best possible record 12-1)

WNIT 4-0 (best possible record 4-0)

Total 12-5 (best possible record 16-1)

Also interestingly -for a reason I'll mention - Siena advanced to the finals of the WBI (where they will face either Oral Roberts or La Lafayette (who play tomorrow).

The ref's at Siena included Joanne Aldrich, who worked for the oBE of course, but the other 2 were old timers near the end of their careers: John Palermo and Bill Titus (he often uses Albert Titus these days but its the same guy). Palermo did one of the away RU games, Wagner, because that school is in one of the conferences he works for.

Not always "sad" to see them go, but occasional Rutgers nemesis in some old ODU games (he t'd up Viv at least once), Tommy Salerno retired at the end of last year, they put him with some other old-timers for his last game; also, while RU fans wouldn't know her name, Marianne Karp, a ref in the PAC12, is retiring, it was announced during the Big West championship that she worked, although she also did a first round NCAA game.

And finally, for those who asked about Dennis recently He didn't work much this year, whether there were health issues, personal reasons or he was just cutting back, who knows, but he worked about 14 games through early December, not inconsistent with recent years where he has been cutting back, but then only 2 in late December, 3 in January and 2 in February. Will be interested in seeing if he comes back next year.

Two old timers retiring? Palermo told me he was retiring at Stegeman Arena during the RU NCAA Scotty Hermann travesty game there. I guess I should have asked him just when....
Best wishes to old acquaintances Billy and Dennis.
