On Wednesday, RU announced a promotion where the general public could buy student section tickets for $20.17. I looked yesteRday to get tickets and none were available. Hopefully it's all RU fans, but should create for a better than expected environment for a New Year's Day basketball game.

well if you're sitting there please help on the foul shots and don't just sit on your hands. Could make all the difference. haven't had that end court the x factor it could be yet this year.
Should we expect to see the Penn State students at the RAC doing their cancer fundraising at the venue, and filling the arena with more students than Rutgers? The makings of a good Polito killer article.
The RU students will show up very well - 2 years ago against Wisconsin on break and it was jam packed ... and this is Penn State - and we're good
If they've been selling seats in the student section to the general public all week, the section may be full but it will be full of civilians not potentially enthusiastic students I would imagine. But I'll take anybody right now as long as they're not wearing blue.
I do not think so, not on New Years Day at 2:30, if there were so many showing they would not be selling to the general public. Students have not exactly turned out in high numbers for any games this year so to expect them on Jan 1 is setting yourself up for disappointment
Most people I know celebrating NYE in NYC, North jersey, and Poconos have bought tickets and are going to the game on the way home or back to campus.
Winter break. The ones that stay are from China and Taiwan. Demographics say that it may not be a large student contingent.
Um how about all the RU kids who are home for break but home is 30mins from campus?
If that's the case, attendance should increase.

Would be nice if some of the other 40K RU fans who were at the football game vs. State Penn would show up for a game we actually have a legit chance to win.

I can't even begin to tell you guys how much I HATE the fact that our student section is about 15-feet from the baseline. SO ****ING STUPID!
Pen St was asleep the first 5 minutes but RU did not take advantage and failed to build a sizable lead which would have demoralized the visitors.

well they always draw more than RU....but the RAC crowd was larger than I thought
