Sounds like the defense struggled a bit and probably the offense too. If we won the majority of the faceoffs does not seem like we converted all of those opportunities.

Take this all with a grain of salt. Fall is a time for experimentation and to get a real look at young guys.

I am not sure even one of our starting defensemen played, and some of top 2 midfield lines definitely didn't play.

Exactly. It's the preseason essentially for lax. No major injuries to impact players and a time to experiment plays. The scores/outcomes are irrelevant.
