If I'm looking for a scoop on RU football, the NY Post is pretty much the last place I'd check. That same article says our record this year was 4-12.
Actually, it was an average of 2.2-8.8 (only 11 games per season back then.)TERRY SHEA WON ELEVEN GAMES IN 5 YEARS AT RUTGERS.
For those not so good with math that's 2-10 per season...for FIVE YEARS.
Having lived through the Shea Years, I can tell you that is not true.
Yes, we have had a worse head football coach than Flood. Terry won ELEVEN games in 5 years here.
We actually have done much worse than Flood.

I'm good with Mario. HC experience and now he's spent 3 years with Sabin to learn the job from the best. Wish he'd had OC experience but he could be good.
3-9 was mostly a senior team but they lost the starting QB and a bunch of the games were 1 score or less. Still, not inspiring as the next season was even worse. Obviously it was a new coach, but Cristobal's players.I don't know. I would be somewhat disappointed, although welcoming and accepting. Although FIU is one tough job, it seemed his record most likely correlated with experience of players with his last year at 3-9 taking a beating due to graduating players the year before (Don't know this for a fact). I'm also concerned we would be hiring another OL coach without OC experience.

He certainly doesn't give me the warm fuzzies, but he should be able to recruit better than Flood.
Not inspiring because the year before his 3-9, he led FIU to its best record during his time there at 8-5 (although he lost his bowl game). It looked like he was on the rise big time. Nevertheless, FIU was a tough nut because of its newness in a state filled with football programs of higher priority. If he becomes HC at Rutgers here's hoping he can pull in those good Florida recruits, along with much better results in NJ
According to Kevin Xavier of The Daily Targum
last week they would have killed for him....our fans are a fickle bunch or ill informed...outside GS or AG..i like him. We ain't getting a UM or JH...LOL.Don't know what the big anti Cristobal thing us about. I guess some folks don't know too much about his FIU situation with the AD. He is a top level recruiter and is a good oline coach as Alabama doesn't look too shabby up front. He's very familiar with Rutgers and even several of the top NJ coaches.
Maybe some folks would do well to look a little more homework and/or look closer at his coaching ability snd also his more open offense style when at FIU as well as what Alabama does.
If appointed I would wondet if any current staff members he mighy retain or might be asked to keep. This is often a question in many situations. But Barchi appears to be saying money is not a problem. And people please show some class and forget the Mrs stuff. That often is a question in many households whether it involves coaches or even ourselves.

Shea had shortcomings as a head coach, but I will chime in:
1. RU#1fan pointed out Flood inherited Schiano's best recruiting class, and outstanding support staff and facilities
2. Shea's budget was barely half of what Schiano got in his FIRST year at RU
Agreed
come on, you can't say "even" from flood, some of the better HS coaches in the state are not even with flood, I would prefer other head coach hires than Mario, but I would also be okay with him, but there isn't much out there that is even or below flood, lets be realIf Cristobal is the hire, then RU basically went only slightly upward to possibly even just lateral on hiring.
