Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and the Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey are conducting town halls in every county across the state of New Jersey. These town halls are intended to combat the opioid epidemic by connecting people to services and solutions and providing education. The education is intended for parents, children, and medical professionals who prescribe these drugs, and for the public on safe prescription drug disposal.
The town hall on Oct. 4 will focus upon the athletic connection to opioid use and foster an opportunity for students and athletes to voice thoughts and perspectives about how this epidemic impacts their lives.
With remarks from New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, panelists will include Rutgers University Senior Vice President and General Counsel John J. Hoffman, Rutgers radio analyst and former NFL quarterback Ray Lucas and Rutgers Men’s Basketball Director of Player Development Greg Vetrone. Rutgers radio play-by-play voice Chris Carlin will serve as the event host.
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is the presenting sponsor of the Oct. 5 football game versus Maryland at SHI Stadium and will have a strong presence to help further educate the community about this very important issue.
