"three people with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media on Monday night. The three people requested anonymity because they have not been authorized to speak publicly about the situation."

Thought RU Athletics had rooted out all of the remaining leaks. Did leaks re-appear?

Aren't they quarantining? Wouldn't it be more accurate to report that additional testing has yielded more positive results? It's not like there was an additional outbreak.

Not to minimize anyone feeling ill that tested positive.

But everyone in the program is getting tested proactively

Let's say everyone on TKR was proactively tested for heart disease or elevated sugar ?

I'm thinking there would be unexpected positives

The players who went to that Party need to be kicked off the team....does not matter who it was...star players, starters, benchwarmers....Off.

......You wouldn’t even have enough guys to play. just stop, they’re kids in college. There are tons of off campus parties going on every week in New Brunswick right now....and most kids aren’t even back yet. Going to be 12,000 kids off campus in a few weeks. They’re not millionaire NBA/NFL professionals, just 19-22 year old guys in school. They all know there won’t be a football season, but there’s a hot girl at the Senior Street party. Little head wins every time

Is it unrealistic to believe that ultimately the leaders on the team need to police the players, ensure they realize what’s at stake, and emphasize accountability for all?

Yes. Young people are going to be young people. They have been separated since March, and they want to get together and socialize. Not going to fault them for that. Don't think anyone one or two or three players are going to step up and take the role of hall monitor, telling their team mates to stay in their rooms.

Not kicked off the team, but I'd have to imagine that they are DEEP in the dog house. Every practice counts, and forcing the team to stop practicing for two weeks because you were thinking more about yourself than your teammates? Can't imagine Schiano's too impressed with their decision making.

kids will be kids. Hope they are all negative soon. Of course this has to be the first summer my kid is in NB. Hope the rest learn something from this. smh,

Herd immunity pre-season. Hope none are serious Funny when this happened at other schools some said it was intentional

Neither the team nor the coaches have been quarantined during the voluntary practice. Coaches have gone home to their families, players have gone home to family & friends. The mom of a player told me the first 6 kids were the young ones that went home & hung out with HS friends.
Did going to a house party help? No. But it's not the only reason players & staff are positive.

I just think that B1G level football players on scholarship aren’t your average college kids. There’s more at stake and they have to think and act accordingly.

Is there a small iota of me, like .1% that wonders if Greg Schiano, the great micromanager and football brain, is allowing this for the sake of herd immunity ala Michigan State, FSU and Clemson .... maybe

IMO there is no way there is a 2020 Rutgers football season.
And it really hurts to say that.

This.
These knuckleheads who went to house parties and now impacted half the team just closed the door on the season.

So, just curiously, what is happening with Clemson/MSU? Has either been able to resume camp?

Google found this:

Clemson Football Announces 14 More Positive COVID-19 Tests After Initial 23

The smart kids at Northwestern now infected.

Will our esteemed fans call them knuckleheads and other names too? Some of our fans love to focus on "R" own purported misery, when it is not different at other places.

The whole push for a CFB season is a farce, as is re-opening the universities. Just not smart. Need to back off and wait for signs that COVID is retreating.

If Rutgers is getting hit hard with this then you have to believe that other teams are just not reporting it because there has to be more than a handful that are experiencing it.

Yes. It's one thing to violate team rules and have a personal consequence. It's another to do something that shuts down the whole program for two weeks.

Yes, stopping leaks. That works never.

Herd immunity is not a sure thing. It's been reported people catching the virus multiple times. We still don't have a clue about this virus. This sh*t could last for years or suddenly disappear.

First off I don’t think Greg would put the health and well being of his players at risk.
And the herd immunity concept is far from a solution. Immunity can last for a duration only ( 3 months ?) and the risk of infection returns. Not to mention you need 70% of the population to have the virus to start herd immunity. The US is at 3% ...never going to happen.
