"Rutgers has zero playmakers on the field"

Yes and no. IMHO this board GREATLY over-exaggerates the abilities of our WR's and TE's, other than LC, based on performances against some of the nation's worst D's (WSU, IU, KU NFSU). The RB's, have talent, but they're not going to make plays - 99% of the time - against great D's that make you say "wow!!"

Run first down, run second down, pass third and long. Repeat for 60 minutes. Never throw ball more than 7 yards. Keep all 11 defenders within 10 yards of LOS

Difficult for most QBs to be successful in this model.

I don't disagree with any of the responses so far. If the team lacks playmakers, that has to be on the coach. If the team has playmakers that are not being put in positions to make plays, that is also on the coach. Whether or not you agree with the statement, it is a clear indication of where this team is right now.

They are loading the box. We are not going to win this game. Throw it often. Who cares.? Yet we will run for no gain twice and throw on third down. Just to keep it to under 45.

You can have a game manager at QB if you have the Rutgers 06 defense or even the 2012 version, but not when the defense is giving up 30 ppg on average.

Flood just doesn't understand that.

It is painfully true, however, Our O-Line does us no favors in helping any possible play makers have time to make plays.

Really? Martin, Hicks, James, Patten, Aggie. No OL line help for either QB gets thrown out there. You can tell Stave has over 35 starts compared to 6 for Laviano. By no means am I saying he will become Stave but at somepoint we need to stick to a QB for good or bad and see what happens. Retting? Maybe. Maybe it won't matter and Russo is so good he can immediately start?

No Carro versus PSU we score 3 points. MSU we score 24 and Leonte played. Today no Leonte and 3 points. See a pattern?

Agree Tough for the running backs to look good when the opposition stacks the box constantly. Does not mean they are not playmakers.

We have a few guys who have the ability to make a play or two per game, outside of Leonte.

By B10 standards, we do not have "playmakers" in the traditional sense of the word.

To me, playmakers make plays all game long.

Even Grant is usually pretty neutralized when we step up in competition.

I heard from very reliable sources that Flood had hooked up with a Phillipine airline stewardess and has a grass hut on the beach somewhere ready to settle into. He WANTS to get fired before the end of the year . Isn't that obvious?

Wish the commentators would shed bring attention to floods stubbornness with regard to the QB position right now. If we know anything it's no changes will be made at Rutgers unless it's proceeded by bad publicity.

Even the 2006 defense or the 2012 defense would not have been as successful with the debacle that is the 2015 special teams.

They're "playmakers" against okay-to-awful defenses. That's it, to be honest, SO FAR in their careers.
Put any of our three RBs behind a good OL then include a QB that can get the ball consistently downfield. Want to tell me again that they can't be playmakers? I don't think so.

With all of those "ifs" you're proving the point. WIthin the context of our offense, we have no playmakers on the field.

Really? Put Hicks,Martin or James in a Wisconsin uniform. They would not have to run against a stacked box. Stave makes his teammates look like players. Can't say the same about Laviano

Repeating yourself doesn't make you less wrong.

If you put Hicks behind Anthony Munoz, Mike Webster, Walter Jones, Larry Allen and Tony Bosselli and had Montana hand him the rock, he'd probably rush for 3,000 yards this season.

I'll try it your way and repeat myself.

Within the context of what we put on the field, we have nobody who can consistently make plays.

If friedgin was still here, laviano wouldn't look so bad. Can't run every play within 7 yards of LOS and expect to be successful.

Never said our RBs need to run behind that OL or QB and you are well aware of that. With that said you punish Hicks, Martin and James for lack of playmakers at OL and QB. In my opinion not fair at all.

Disagree.

Cioffi. But he has limited help and lacks the pure physical skills of a typical BIG player.

But he makes up for it in heart and hustle.

I like Cioffi too, and he does make plays relative to his ability, but it seems that many of these other B1G teams have players with physical skills and heart. Our playmakers, other than Carroo and Longa, seem to disappear against these other B1G teams.

JANARIAN GRANT JUST HAS NOT DEVELOPED AS A RECEIVER LIKE EVERYONE EXPECTED.

True this.

WRong, they have not used Grant, this offensive coaching staff is so stupid and conservative.

We have 2TEs, 1FB and 1WR and and 1RB on the field. of 11 players we only have 2 offensive threats but since the D puts 9 in the box it takes away our RB. since we don't throw unless it is 3rd and long the 1 WR is taken out by our offensive play calling. We have players but the offensive scheme SUCKS.

Why can't they create 2-3 plays for Grant to go long. Because they are so stupid and conservative!
