"Rutgers has zero playmakers on the field"

No Carro versus PSU we score 3 points. MSU we score 24 and Leonte played. Today no Leonte and 3 points. See a pattern?

Two patterns actually

1) Carro is awesome and makes a huge difference when he plays
2) Laviano struggles without him to throw too

Rettig may not be able to do any better but wouldn't you like to see if he can? He completed two long passes in two straight games - both without Carroo.

Maybe the answer is the obvious one. Play Rettig and see if we have any play makers.

I like Cioffi too, and he does make plays relative to his ability, but it seems that many of these other B1G teams have players with physical skills and heart. Our playmakers, other than Carroo and Longa, seem to disappear against these other B1G teams.

I'm really getting tired of seeing Cioffi being two steps slow closing in from his FS spot. I think he runs a 4.7

Did you see him catch Clement from behind even though clement had a 7-8 yd lead. If his is 4.7 then clement must be 5.0

In all fairness, CC was playing in his first game in 2 months after sports hernia surgery. He wasn't exactly busting it down the sideline.

Cioffi is a gamer and gives great effort.

We weren't scoring more than 10, on O, with Leonte today, nor were we against PSU. Bottom line is MSU's D isn't nearly as good as PSU's, let alone OSU or Wiscy's, and Lord-help-us Michigan's next week. What happened against MSU was we took advantage of an incredibly depleted secondary (after graduation and injuries) with LC.

Millen, the guy who was president of an Nfl team, now barely relevant on TV

If he was desirable he'd be on one of the 5 major networks- complete can of dogsh-t

While "no playmakers" is not true, I said this last year and it applies today:

Why would a good QB or WR or TE come to Rutgers with this kind of offense?

You know what a good coach does when their "style" hurts recruiting? THEY CHANGE THEIR STYLE.. just ask CVS... hall of fame womens bball coach. Recruits let her know that her style was detriment.. and she changed it up and had a nice class and a pretty good season.

Flood had his chance to change after the way he handled Nova. He has failed. Shame on us for being tricked into extending his contact and changing his buyout because of $200K a year promise by some "donor". For all we know, Flood is paying Towers to make that offer... I wouldn't put it past him. He's still making more than he will once he leaves here.

no hes just playing against better athletes as the season goes on.
No, teams have made the adjustment when they kick to him. It's the Rutgers staff who hasn't made adjustment to put Grant back on even grounds against the competition. Ask Michigan if he wasn't an impact player last year? Grant's impact in that game was at the receiver position. Nova targeted Grant more than usual and Grant came through. Overall, Rutgers does a poor job in getting any of their playmakers into position to make plays. Playcalling has as much to do with it as does the player once he gets the ball.

I think we have playmakers. I think QB and OC are the bigger issue.

Is grant really slowing or does he never get room to work. Heck he barely get's touches.

RB's are good, Carlton is good, Patton is ok. Not having a player the level of Carro is going to hurt, but it should not be the death blow.

I've supported the Laviano decision till this point, but I think you have to give Rettig a chance to start a game. It's almost at the point where it's unfair to Laviano to roll him out there vs another top team next week. Let's see how Rettig fares against an elite D.

We have playmakers, they are just not being put in a position to make plays. James, Hicks, Martin, Goodwin, Agudosi, Patton, Grant all come to mind. That is all talent, if used properly and creatively with the right QB, could be a potent offense.

Notice Wisconsin's Wildcat snap to their old QB yesterday? Not saying we should go to the Wild Knight, but we could do something creative with a playmaker, couldn't we?

We do NOTHING to get playmakers the ball in space

Nothing

Our lack of YAC on pass plays thrown less than 20 yards is startling

And yet...we keep to an offensive gameplan to bully opposing teams. We will bully ohio state and Wisconsin!!!

We do nothing for grant ...other than hand the ball off to grant on the jet sweep or throw it out there on a we screen.

High schools do more to get their best players the ball in space than we do

It's almost criminal

I really think some of you guys think WAY to highly of the "skill players" on our O. Catching 3 balls against the nation's worst D, scoring 3 TD's on the ground against that same pathetic D, IMHO, doesn't make you a "play-maker." Do it against good D's, or great ones, then we can talk. Now, I like our RB's and our WR's - they're more than "serviceable" - but that's about all they've proven, to date, IMHO.
