Rutgers is about to help make history Sept. 3rd

Pete Carroll got heavy into the rugby style tackling and Seattle has had an NFL record #1 defense four years running now. He turned Chris Petersen onto it and it's a big hit for Washington. It's helped reduce injuries.

Rutgers is a Rugby style tackling team now too. Most teams are adopting this. I adopted this as a high school DC and saw huge rewards from it.

Dang. - How often does it rain at Washington home games during a season ?
Does it matter the time of year ?
It rains a lot on the west side of the state but the weather should be warm and dry on Sept. 3rd. The rainy season doesn't usually start there until sometime in mid to late October.

As mentioned, Chris Ash was an early adopter of the rugby-style tackling after Pete Carroll released his videos on YouTube a few years ago. He brought it to Ohio State and they had immediate results. He has now brought that style to Rutgers.

While Rutgers doesn't have the top talent or depth that OSU has, I'm expecting to see great improvements on the defensive side of the field compared to the last few seasons simply from the change in the schemes and tackling technique. In fact, just by drilling the new techniques will lead to greater fundamentals because "practice makes permanent."
