Good article by Dunleavy examining why RU has been so bad in pass game. They are lumped stat wise in passing proficiency with option teams. Ash might want to hire a passing game Cord and maybe re assign Jafar Williams from WR coach back to Running back Coach.

Here are the eight teams with fewer passing yards than Rutgers since the start of 2016: Air Force (2,591), Navy (2,546), New Mexico (2,543), Kent State (2,508), Georgia Southern (2,490),Tulane (2,195), Georgia Tech (2,135) and Army (1,233).

What to do those teams have in common? All except Kent State employ some form of the run-based triple option offense.

Projected starter Ahmir Mitchell, a Michigan transfer, suffered a torn ACL during spring camp and still is awaiting his college debut. He hasn't been seen at practice the last couple weeks.

Well there goes another Flood recruit.

I've been saying all week that if this "Kill offense" is what we are going to run going foward regardless of results, just go all the way and run the triple-option.

The year of the Dream Team 2016 because the NJ Dream Team for Michigan. Four 4 star recruits and 1 5 star recruits from NJ but now only the 5 star, Rashan Gary, is a Michigan starter. The other 4 are no where to be found except Mitchell who transferred to Rutgers.

So what's your take? The NJ Dream Team was overrated?

Peppers is in the NFL.
We need and APB out for WR.DUWoop Mitchell also who latley gets zero targets as a 5th year player..after being the main target in the seasons first few games.

Honestly, if we’re going to throw he ball 15 times a game, just be Georgia Tech. We are a shotgun power running team. Which is odd.

The only interesting point in that article was that Michigan has fewer touchdown passes then RU this season (4). Btw, they also have 4 fewer rushing td's (11).

By the way I am completely shocked at which posters have responded towards the negative in this thread. Stunned I tell you!

I'll be positive: RU would run a great Winged T attack.:p
But Im partial to the Wishbone and want Kill to start running that :D

Good QB play or not, RU winning 2 B1G games in a row puts a smile on my face and tends to have me complain less.[banana]:cool2:[cheers]

Let’s get real. At this point I’ll be shocked if he ever plays a significant role on the field. It’s Anthony Miller (circa 2004) all over again.
Sounds like Mitchell isn’t doing the things on and off the field to be in a position to play.
Might be time for the fan base to move on from him.

The RU football program seems determined to give us mind-numbingly boring and bad rushing first offenses that don't even have the excitement of the triple option or any of the great spread offenses out there. We just get to see our backs running into brick walls all day long.

B1GR: Ahmir Mitchell needs to grow up and even though I don’t expect him to suit up at Rutgers this year he does have POTENTIAL B1G talent....if he doesn’t make it here his loss means very little to the program going forward...Ash will tolerate his bullshit.

Nuts, you are too funny. I agree with your post etc.

BlockR...nice try and for digging up some negative (in your opinion) news to share with everyone. Don't know what your axe to grind is but give it up as it is bevoming boring and with the couple of recent B1G wins it is not needed. Most would agree that style points don't matter as it is wins that count. Ask the players and I am sure you will learn something.

And may I add that in 1961 we went undefeated and I don't recall us passing more than 15 times in a game. We also played a double wing T formation with an unbalanced line and a split end formation which could be successful today. The key was similar to what Kill has recently implied....keep it simple and execute well.

If that brings wins, I'll accept it for now.
I want RU to start winning on a regular bases, then I'll start complaining on how RU wins .

A lot of people want wins. And I'm certainly not complaining about wins. But winning like we did against Purdue is not sustainable.

This offense is not going to bring wins against good or even decent teams. Two wins against the worst teams in the Big Ten does not mean we have a "boring offense but one that wins games" like Florida had under Tim Tebow.

The fact that people can't take even the slightest logical step to realize this is absolutely astounding.

I can't decide if people are just putting their head in the sand or if they truly believe this offense can consistently bring wins.

And I'll say it - I think many on this board still have the "old school/northeast football/ground and pound in the snow" mentality.
Someone brought up 1961 in a different thread saying we didn't pass more than 15 times a game. Seriously?

Some of our fans always get too impressed with wins over bad teams. We're already seeing threads about bowl games and the rest of the Big Ten starting to fear us. I'm very happy to see that this team HAS improved over last year as some of us were saying earlier in the season but this offense has to get a whole f--- of a lot better, whatever style, if we ever hope to beat teams like Michigan State or Wisconsin, to say nothing of Ohio State. What it is now is barely enough to beat Purdue. It's light years from beating the great teams.
