Rutgers reduces campus fee by 15% for next academic year

Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway on Thursday announced a 15% reduction in students' campus fees for the 2020-21 academic year.

For full-time undergraduate students, this will translate to at least $300 in savings in their term bills throughout the academic year, Holloway wrote in an email to students.

If students are studying on-line, is it really fair to charge them campus fees? They are not trampling the grass or wearing out the walkways or the corridors or the seats in the classrooms or the furniture in the dorms. But they are being charged for the upkeep of those facilities, notwithstanding, though at a modest reduction in fees. Perhaps there are your odd replacement building plans that can be scaled down from spectacularly grandiose to moderately grandiose so that students can be freed of campus fees during the pandemic?
