I do miss great defense; however, it is hard to play great defense with so few players.Just checked the game out on Tv and had to turn it off. I miss the days of tough defense. Past Rutgers teams may not have been the most gifted offensively, but they played great defensively and that kept them in games.
just a give it up type of game for me when it comes to looking at anything good to take from this game except for Destiny74-41 end of 3rd. So sad, can't even be mad.
Ouch!51-22 half. Hey Coquese do you coach at all or just chew your gum?
Thanks for that info. I haven't followed the rankings a lot so far this year. I would have thought they might be higher ranked based on being ranked in the top 5 for most of last season, reaching as high as #2 for weeks, eventually finishing 6th in the final AP poll, I believe.OSU is not top 5. They’re 17th.
We are in this spot because that HOF coach went AWOL and wouldn’t allow Rutgers to hire a real coach during her absence. She knew she was not coming back and people still defend CViv… just think how many of our fans would feel a greater appreciation for her had she capitulated only slightly. This is not turning out well at this time especially with players missing games left and right.Hope Washington succeeds but it could be a very long journey.Brutal game to watch. I miss the defensive toughness of CVS teams also. I want to criticize the coaching staff but on closer look, I still lean toward our inexperience being the real culprit.
Coach doesn't get a pass but we have to remember, our guards, Lisa, Jillian, Antonia, and Mya are all really in their first season of big-time D1 basketball setting up and running an offense.
Ohio State, on the other hand, is loaded. OMG, they have one of my favorite players to watch, ....Jacy Sheldon(a bonafide All-American candidate), ..........then you have C-e-l-e-s-t-e Taylor!! (arguably the best defender in the country),..........and add to that duo, the return of Madison Greene. They all have been around for at least FIVE years each and have played in many games against the best WCBB has to offer,....on the biggest stages.
The score is the result of this experience difference, IMO. Depth also allows McGuff the ability to employ that full court pressure defense that I swear, he lifted from CVS. We used to do that to his teams when we first joined the B1G.
Not to mention, OSU has two other players that are All-Conference level players(Mcmahon and Thierry). They bring a post player with similar experience and skillset to our Kassondra B (Ta'yier Parks-transferred in from Mich St) off the end of the bench.
Silver lining for this game,IMO,...... our ladies played hard to the end.
No apologies necessary, better to forget about games like his then have to read about the disasterApologies for no story tonight… was broadcasting some HS boys basketball (Colonia beat St. Thomas Aquinas in OT!) and wasn’t able to watch the game. Unfortunately seems like a lot of similar issues popped up again, and against really good teams like OSU it’s just too much to overcome.
The Big Ten is also better/deeper than it was last year in my opinion. Wonder how many wins are left on the schedule. See you again on Sunday at JMA for Penn State!
I agree she left RU in a lurch but disagree with her knowing she wouldn't be back.We are in this spot because that HOF coach went AWOL and wouldn’t allow Rutgers to hire a real coach during her absence. She had no intentions of returning to Rutgers. Stop the drivel.I agree she left RU in a lurch but disagree with her knowing she wouldn't be back.
I feel she stubbornly refused to face the fact that her health wouldn't permit her being able to coach again causing her to take a leave of absence and the interim HC, Tim Eatman, wasn't up to the job.
Which brought on disastrous results for the program
you don't know that , so you're just stating an opinion about something you really don't knowShe had no intentions of returning to Rutgers. Stop the drivel.
It was quite clear… just as she used the system and her contract ( well played ) to extract money and time off she placed the program into the point they now find themselves. You love to defend her manipulation ( legal by the way) now defend Washington who has the unenviable task of getting us back to where we were for years under Grentz and Stringer. You are the board apologist … you are like a broken record with excuses.you don't know that , so you're just stating an opinion about something you really don't know
So my drivel is as good ,or better, then yours .
whine all you like, never admit you're wrong ,just go into your insult mode.It was quite clear… just as she used the system and her contract ( well played ) to extract money and time off she placed the program into the point they now find themselves. I can't imagine that she didn't. These coaches do not know when to retire, and she is one of many that ultimately almost destroyed the program they built by hanging on too long. In many sports. She had no intentions of returning to Rutgers. Stop the drivel.
I’m not whining I’m laughing at your stupidity, arrogance and blatant adherence to the theme she is not the reason for the women’s program being in the SHATTER… been this way for 3+ years. She had no intention of coaching any longer… she was doing it to spend time with her child. You talk a great deal of BS… maybe there are others who actually know the facts . She got everything she needs by holding out. Did I insult you on the post? … if I didn’t this time I’ll try to do better job of insulting you. 😃😊😁whine all you like, never admit you're wrong ,just go into your insult mode.
Bob I don't care what you say, I just try to present my opinion in a respectable manner when stating my opinion .
Your use of insults doesn't make you right, just makes what you say look like you are ranting about things you know little about but want to give the impression you know what you're ranting about.
That isn't working Bob
The only way you'd be close to guessing the truth, and I doubt what I'm about to say is valid, would be if you claimed CVS took the leave of absence so Eatman would have a fair shot to be here replacement and Stringer was looking to help Tim be hired permanently if he had a good year as interim HC
But I doubt that was the reason and I will stick with feeling that Vivian stubbornly refused to admit to herself that her health would never improve enough for her to be able to return to coaching the team.
She was not coming back… the care of her adult daughter… The pressures of recruiting and the changing game frustrated coach Viv… the uncertainty of her own health … Typical Rutgers fans can’t believe it WAS HER TIME…I can't imagine that she didn't. These coaches do not know when to retire, and she is one of many that ultimately almost destroyed the program they built by hanging on too long. In many sports.
I am absolutely certain that, was she able, she would have come back. It is in these coach's blood.
Among others, I'm thinking that Doug Bruno at DePaul is in this boat now.
Ok Bob ,think what you want to think, but I'll keep on thinking you're wrongI’m not whining I’m laughing at your stupidity, arrogance and blatant adherence to the theme she is not the reason for the women’s program being in the SHATTER… been this way for 3+ years. Kah don't do it! 😲🫣 Not good for the culture!😂😂😂I hope she is given permission to freely slap the sh*t out of some players that need it. Love her being part of the team. One of my all time favorite Knights.
In your head MADHAT? Ha Ha Ha… women like you are amazing … all easier when you accept it.Ok Bob ,think what you want to think, but I'll keep on thinking you're wrong
As for talking BS, that's your opinion and I might just look at what you are claiming the same way.
I'm sure there are some that might agree with you, also feel others might see it the way I do.
Think what you want Bobbie., but if Stringer was planing to stop coaching Hobbs wouldIn your head MADHAT? Ha Ha Ha… women like you are amazing … all easier when you accept it.
You think it is not normal for a Rutgers fan and alum to post on the women’s basketball ball board ? What is a woman by your definition? What do you consider normal? For your information you know very little about C Viv… care to bet that I know more than you on this subject. So as a woman you see it wrong for males to post on the board.Ha Ha Ha… you are definitely suffering sweetie.Think what you want Bobbie., but if Stringer was planing to stop coaching Hobbs would
have paid Vivian her full salary , she would take care of her daughter after retiring and the LOA would never happened. The only change would be her retirement ceremony would be earlier that it was
CVS would have retired instead of trying to get healthy enough to return to coaching , butshe refused to fact the fact her health wouldn't improve enough, with rest, to return to the job she loved.
"Bob"?? is that name used by you to have us think you're a man posting on a women's basketball board ?

Ok Lee ( in anonymous board names are what you want them to be) we're done hogging this thread , we can agree this board is for all of us men or woman to post in .By the way my name is Lee
I'm all for waiting until Coquese's 3rd year at the helm is completed before trying to judge whether her tenure will be a success. It's amazing that posters talk about "this will be a six year (or a seven year) rebuild -- we have to be patient" when talking about some coaches, but are convinced CW can't get the job done after a little over a year when having been left with the ultimate dumpster fire of a situation. She just got a 5 star commit whose tape looks awesome. How about giving her half a chance?
