Just watched some of the St Johns vs Stony Brook game and witnessed a beatdown.

Yes. Stony Brook handled St Johns 72-60. They were up by about 20 when both teams cleared the benches with about 2 min left. Another small team like the last one we faced. They are a team that plays smart basketball and can shoot the three well (9-15). A dynamic scoring guard in Anne Warren. They are a hard nosed defensive team that out-rebounded St Johns(the taller team) 46-43 and took (5) charges. They are now 3-0 under a young energetic 1st year coach.. I think it is safe to say that they will be our toughest challenge to date.

Did I see correctly we're playing them today at 11 am?

lucky to be up 1 after 1st quarter. 8 turnovers including 4 shot clock violations. 8-7 after 1. Fortunately we outrebounded SB 12-5 and they shot 2/13

21-19 RU up at half. Both teams shooting 27%. RU only 1/7 from 3. On the plus side 4/4 on free throws, ourebounding 28-11 and only 2 turnovers second quarter.

Why is this an 11 AM start on a Tuesday? That's weird.

Holy crap, we used 14 players in the first half! Coach, tighten the rotation!

15 turnovers at the 4:07 mark in the 3rd quarter after another shot clock violation. Ugh. We have serious issues.

If the stats link is correct, we currently have 14 offensive rebounds but only 4 second chance points. Stony Brook has four boards and five second chance points. Amazing.

Scoring is atrocious. Will a Scarlet Knight kindly make a bunch of baskets, quickly? Please and thank you.

Only bright spot is Petree - kid really hustles 15 points, at least 2 maybe 3 blocks, a steal and 3 rebounds.

At least we know early … not unexpected as a lot of talent left the program. Just don’t expect a B1G team to lose n general to a SB.

But it’s only 1 game, it’s a new group, and a new coach.

Well, perhaps this game will hasten the end of the experimental line-ups. Unfortunately, there does not seem to have been a lot of consistency in game-to-game performance.

Comment edited.

The program is being run into the ground..period
We are already in the ground it just is a matter of how deep we go; This must be killing Hobbs to watch this crap knowing he can do nothing about it; He needs to move CVS into whatever administrative position because there is no way she is going anywhere before her contract is up so this program besides being pathetic is costing Rutgers millions because we have to pay CVS for 4 more years and then to attract a good coach we are going to have to come up with money for that

Who the hell told him to give her that ridiculous extension? This is on the AD and the BOG. He lit $5M on fire when that extension got signed.

Damm poor shooting.
This team needs to take control early and make shots.
Very disappointing , but early enopugh in season to overcome a bad game like this with the proper ajustments.

now for the usual suspects who usually only show up to complain.
Your caring about the program would be more believable if you showed up opn this board top congratulate the team when it wins and you could even give constructive criticism on the play after the game.if you really cared about the RU WBB program
But that's not your MO and you seem to enjoy when things go wrong fare more than when things go the teams way.

What was the difference contrasting quarters one and three with quarters two and four?

Note that Stony Brook averaged ~80 ppq in its first three games. RU still has the defense but better find its shooters and play them in the Harvard game before the holiday tournament.

As I have stated before CVS is basically holding/held Rutgers hostage and has and is bleeding them for every last cent she can get out of Rutgers; Hobbs had no choice and he has wanted to part ways for a while now but this has to be the last straw; She has to be moved upstairs in a corner somewhere and Hobbs needs to hire a new regime albeit as you said at a wasted cost of $5 million to Rutgers!!!

RU has had some early bad losses in previous years and still had winning seasons. Hope remains. Rather than having a super short rotation, I like the idea of fresh legs throughout the game. However, RU needs to have good scorers and defenders on the floor at the same time for at least 40 minutes per game. Let's hope the coaching staff have enough information to pick a rotation of 10-12 players that can play together and be tested in the holiday tournament.
