PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling unveiled its entire 2021-22 schedule, announced Wednesday. The current slate features eight home dates, eight Big Ten Conference duals, a tri-meet at the Prudential Center and several intriguing out-of-conference matchups stretched across five months.

All times will be announced at a later date. Season tickets for the 2021-22 campaign can be purchased here.

The Scarlet Knights open their highly anticipated season with their annual quad meet against Binghamton, Cleveland State and NJCU on Sunday, Nov. 7 at the RAC. RU hosts ranked foes Ohio State (No. 7) and Illinois (No. 21), as well as in-state rival Princeton (Feb. 18). Army (Dec. 10), Indiana (Jan. 7), Maryland (Feb. 12) and Columbia (Feb. 19) also visit the RAC this winter.

RU’s road swing features three preseason top-25 ranked foes, according to Intermat, from the Big Ten, including No. 17 Wisconsin (Jan. 9), No. 4 Penn State (Jan. 16) and No. 5 Michigan (Jan. 23). Rutgers also faces Big Ten foe Michigan State (Jan. 21) in East Lansing.

Several marquee events appear during the first semester. Rutgers competes in the inaugural Garden State Grapple against No. 16 North Carolina and Hofstra on Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Prudential Center. The Scarlet Knights also make a return to the Midlands Championships, held Dec. 29-30 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Pegged the preseason No. 14 team in the country by Intermat, Rutgers features ranked wrestlers in eight weights, including top-10 rankings for No. 3 Sebastian Rivera (133), No. 5 John Poznanski (184) and No. 8 Jackson Turley (174). No. 13 Sammy Alvarez (141), No. 15 Greg Bulsak (197), No. 27 Michael VanBrill (149), No. 31 Dylan Shawver (125), and No. 33 Robert Kanniard (157) also earned recognition in their respective weight classes.

Under the guidance of head coach Scott Goodale, Rutgers closed the 2021 season with three All-Americans in the same year for the first time in program history. Along with two-time NCAA qualifiers VanBrill and Billy Janzer (197), the Scarlet Knights produced 13 victories at nationals en route to a 13th-place finish with 37.5 team points. RU also welcomes one of the top freshmen classes in the country this fall, which includes New Jersey standouts Michael Cetta, Joseph Olivieri, Dean Peterson, Dylan Weaver and Tony White.

November

Rutgers opens the season with its home quad on Sunday, Nov. 7 against Binghamton, Cleveland State and NJCU. The RU-Binghamton dual features a potential top-10 individual matchup with preseason No. 5 John Poznanski (184) against No. 10 Loue Deprez, while the visit from NJCU marks the return of former assistant coach Harry Turner, who now serves as the head coach of the Gothic Knights.

RU hits the road for the first time when it heads to Davidson, North Carolina for a quad meet with Clarion, Davidson and UT-Chattanooga. Rutgers closes the month with the Garden State Grapple event at the Prudential Center against No. 16 North Carolina and Hofstra. The Garden State Grapple, which also features Wisconsin, is the first of its kind at the arena. Rutgers will not compete against the Badgers at the event.

December

The Scarlet Knights compete at American University (Dec. 3) before they host Army on Friday, Dec. 10 at the RAC. RU then travels to Hoffman Estates, Illinois, to compete in the annual Midlands Championships as a team for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

January

Big Ten Conference dual action begins on Friday, Jan. 7 when Rutgers hosts Indiana at the RAC. The Scarlet Knights head to Madison, Wisconsin to face the No. 17 Badgers on Sunday, Jan. 9, before they return to Piscataway to wrestle No. 21 Illinois on Friday, Jan. 14.

RU closes the month with three consecutive Big Ten road duals and two top-5 opponents when it competes at No. 4 Penn State (Jan. 16), Michigan State (Jan. 21) and Michigan (Jan. 23).

February

Rutgers closes the dual season with four matches at the RAC, beginning with No. 7 Ohio State on Sunday, Feb. 6. The Scarlet Knights finish Big Ten Conference action on Saturday, Feb. 12 against Maryland before back-to-back matches against Ivy League foes Princeton (Feb. 18) and Columbia (Feb. 19).

March

All eyes are on the postseason, as Rutgers sends 10 student-athletes to compete at the 2021 Big Ten Championships from March 5-6 at the University of Nebraska. The 2021 NCAA Wrestling Championships follow from March 17-19 in Detroit.
