  • My MVP award goes to the offensive line for ultimately taking over and dominating the LOS and game. That was the best OL performance we've seen since the 2014 bowl game vs North Carolina. Big Ups to Kamaal Seymour, Marcus Applefield, and Mike Maietti, who had the best game of their careers. On one particularly impressive play, Seymour and Applefield drove their men about 8 yards into the end zone making it easy for Hicks to score. For much of the game, it looked like Illinois DL was playing on roller skates. Cole and Miller were solid. OL is jelling and as long as they continue to get better, Rutgers will have a chance to win every remaining game
  • Jay Harris might be the best safety on the roster. 11 tackles, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble is as good a safety debut as I can remember
  • Gus Edwards had the best game of his Rutgers career, averaging 4.3 YPC, with many of those yards coming after contact. He also had a 33 yard reception coming out of the backfield.
  • Raheem Blackshear averaging 14.5 ypc. This is a Reggie Bush like stat.
  • Jerome Washington didn't play much of the game, yet the running game still flourished. Big Ups to Nakia Griffin- Stewart for filling in, and doing a great job
  • Gio had a terrific game, averaging about 6 YPC. Concerned about his ability to stay healthy, given his propensity to take a lot of shots. Passing has to get better as a 50% completion rate won't cut it against the Michigans and Penn States, who usually dominate our OL, making it difficult for the running game to flourish
  • Bolin came in like a professional, and made a terrific throw to get a much needed first down
  • Kevin Wilkins has consistently been the best Rutgers DL, and the Illinois game was no exception, notching 4 tackles and 1 tfl. Hard for teams to run when Wilkins is driving his man into the backfield
  • The Rutgers sack attack showed signs of life with Sebastian Joseph and Kemoko Turay each notching a sack
  • Deonte Roberts quietly having an All Big Ten type season finished with 9 tackles
  • Need to cut down on turnovers.
  • Much needed Big Ten Win, on the Road
  • 4 More Wins Till we Bowl
