Complete conjecture here but what would you think? If you are Greg Brown would you convince GS to take the AD position for the next 3 years allowing him to hire the next coach?

I would imagine that GS would be fantastic at bringing in the corporate money for his vision of RU athletics. So long as Merger Bob feels that GS would impact lowering the subsidy he would be all in. Give GS $5m to play with today and a guarantee to cut the subsidy by 50% in 2 years. Brown gets his guy, Merger Bob gets to put less money towards athletics and we get a real leader in the AD's office.

Thoughts????

Get ready for a $900 million football budget out of a $700 million endowment.

GS still has about 3 years left to get paid the remainder difference from the TB Bucs.

He signed a 5 year deal in 2012. Unless there was an extension I'm not aware of he has 1, not 3 years left. As an "insider" I hope you knew that

Besides when has Greg not demanded every last penny. Come on with this stuff.

1 year or 3 years not withstanding, your still under the illusion that Greg would get a major D1 job and make $3m per year. Outside of right here, I see that as less probable than him taking an AD job.

Just admit you didn't know and leave it at that.
It's not like this is the first time you were wrong.[winking]

The AD has to care about sports other than football. Not sure Schiano has ever shown any indication of that.

Administration isn't coaching. I'd bet he can take an AD job and continue to collect his severance from the Bucs

This is what I was thinking .

Pay him 500,000 to be AD and he can still collect his Tampa money as it is an administration job.

Sorry guy, you should know it's 1 year before posting the rest.

Schiano could have written his $1 million ticket any time he wanted to be an NFL DC. Maybe $600-700k at a major P5 school. No way on earth he's taking this job when there is still really big $ to make if he ever puts his ego in check and swallows his pride.

Also remember this was the same guy who took RU for every penny he could squeeze out of them while being ok with paying his assistants peanuts.

Coach Schiano wants to coach not push papers! Unless the job includes coaching I think he would be out. He has 1 year left with the Bucs bucks. And least we forget we have a coach so all this is premature. However, with all that said we would be lucky to get him back!

Whatever we paid him, it was well worth it. Without Greg Schiano, the fans would probably be okay with a head coach of Flood's caliber. However, Greg reinvigorated a defeated, tired fan base and brought hope to this program, formerly referred to as a "coaching graveyard."

The uniforms today say YES. And Schiano to coach too. He can hire some flunky to handle the non-revenue sports (I am including BOTH basketball teams there)

Greg wants to coach not be an AD. That said if he was hired as coach he'd want a say in everything football related.

It's amazing how many people here would love to have ADs with zero experience as an AD or an assistant AD. No wonder so many hate Julie...

Alvarez and Osbourne took AD jobs after long tenures as coaches. GS still wants to coachwood all, not figure out budgets for the golf and track teams.
