scoreboard music has ruined the Rac

There are about 500 people alive and able to go to games that miss the smell of popcorn, miss hearing mack the knife or pulling mussles from a shell by the band. that was 20+ years ago.

Rutgers needs ad $s AND needs to cater to new fans.
There's got to be something to be said for dropping "Mack the Knife". I think we can all agree on that.

We have myriad sponsored fan cam bits because they give us money - incase any one has forgotten - money is a big issue within our athletic department.

The music, well that's done everywhere, but I understand the want for more pep band. The fact is no one near me in the stands complained about the music when there were 7K in attendance for Penn St. I thought the band was just as bad as the ads and music last night but that makes sense when only 15 people are in it. We need to demand more commitment for the band regardless of how much their used.

Im on record as complaining during the Penn State game for the Simba cam

there has to be a happy medium..are you telling me that the band has to shot up if we are beating Michigan State at the 4 minute timeout so we can do a stupid selfie cam

who are the sponsors, I have no clue do you? Is the message working, apparently not

Talk to Hobbs at game, or talk to BK. They raise the volume when the RAC is dead. Spaceship becomes the funeral.

They announce the sponsor before each cam over the speaker. Regarding Simba Cam, it was my sections favorite of the Cams and universally liked. But hey, no sense in comparing different sides of an argument that are both anecdotal in nature.

There was no juice in the arena last night. A 9pm tip that no one showed up for so of course everything felt forced. Against Penn St, there was juice in the packed crowd, and at least I felt that everyone bought in to the entertainment.

can you name them?

Not sure if anyone noticed it - probably not because we'd have to make one for you to hear it - but after some made threes in past games, the PA announcer had to force in some "that three pointer brought to you by <insert sponsor name>" directly after the a three pointer was made while the game was still going on. Didn't do it in every instance but that is really bad.

that is bad and the NCAA shouldnt allow it but they let the genie out of the bottle, its disgusting what the NCAA and universities are doing for money

you were/are in the band? Does anyone know how it works and does the band get plans from the gameday guy on when they will be allowed to play and when the promotions and music are to take precidence

The conductor of the pep band has a headset on and is told when they can play. It is a shame. Nothing better than a pep band song leading the cheers going into a timeout after a big Rutgers run.

so true, they did manage to get the fight song in immediately after one timeout. The issue isnt necessarily now when the team isnt winning league game, the issue is when the program gets good enough where league games become an event and RU has big games at the RAC again, everyone talks about RACmosphere but we will never get that back the way things are going. You have to allow RU cheers to be generated organically or by the cheerleaders. I heard a small Lets Go RU chant in the 200 level be drawned out some random song that just had to be played. Is RU playing money to play these songs?

saw on the football board that Geoff Brown has been relieved of his duties at RU...interesting timing

also gone is Janine Purcaro chief financial officer of RU athletics

Minor league operation. If the RAC is dead due to being the doormat of the B1G, the Macarena is not going to bring the people to life. Let the pep band do their job and be the organic life blood of the arena, not corny piped in music. The pep band are the best fans Rutgers could ever hope for putting up with all the losing and still cheering their heads off, and all our marketing team wants to do is silence them. I would stop showing up if it kept happening, it wasn't this way when I was in the pep band in the mid 90's.

I've noticed the kids in the pep band are starting to show in fewer numbers. Who can blame them. Why drag yourself, and your instrument out on a winter night to play the National Anthem, then hold your instrument and listen to loud music?
