Rutgers is finalizing a contract to hire Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson, according to sources. Gleeson has agreed in principle to a three-year deal to become Greg Schiano’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He gives Rutgers a high-profile hire at the most important position on the staff.

Yup I like the hire...first OC in quite awhile I've felt good about. Not sure if home run like some think hard to say since not a lot of time at the P5 level but I like his potential and think we might finally see the kind of offense I think can help us be more productive. Might be some growing pains at first but then after that let's see.

From the article:
"The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman was the first to report the hiring.":cool2:
@RU4Real - it is safe to say it is going down?

Best part is a 3 yr contract. Hopefully he stays a while

There’s a lot to like about this hire. From the article by Thames:

“Bringing in Gleeson gives the Scarlet Knights an immediate offensive identity, as his stints at Oklahoma State and Princeton showed the ability to adjust the scheme to his talent to author prolific offenses.”

“In 2017 under Gleeson, Princeton finished No. 3 nationally in scoring offense. What’s perhaps most impressive for Gleeson is that Princeton put up big numbers with different style quarterbacks. Pro-style quarterback Chad Kanoff and dual-threat John Lovett both won Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons under Gleeson, which showcases that ability to adapt to personnel.”

LOL had to merge the original thread just as I was posting all this info and I was like WTF is going on.

Here are bunch of articles and links I posted on Gleeson and his offense at the beginning of the OC search.

From an article in the Athletic:

Whereas he fully admits to having never heard of Yurcich prior to his own Internet search, Gleeson, 34, had already developed a reputation in the coaching community. Princeton’s innovative offense averaged an FCS-high 47.0 points per game en route to a 10-0 season last year. At the time Gundy first contacted him, he said, Gleeson was meeting with newly hired Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

“Sean wasn’t as big a secret as what people thought,” Gundy said. “I have access to everything on (video) now. I can go on there, pull every game up from Princeton.”

What Gundy saw was an offense that played at a high tempo, was explosive in both the run and the pass games and always seemed a step ahead of opposing defenses. Most importantly to Gundy, Gleeson, who is also the Cowboys’ QBs coach, helped put two Princeton quarterbacks into the NFL. Chad Kanoff (Cardinals) and John Lovett (now a tight end for the Chiefs) both won the Bushnell Cup given to the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.

“I’m into more of a young youthful guy that can develop quarterbacks and be very engaging during recruiting,” Gundy said. “If we have a good quarterback, if we recruit good quarterbacks, we win games. If we don’t, we’re average.

Surprised it is only 3 years. Is that normal for an OC ?
That's plenty for an assistant. Used to be only 1, then 2 and now as with all coaching contracts going up and up the top ones or really wanted ones will get 3 or sometimes more.
