So I called my season ticket rep yesterday, as my dad and I have two season tickets for football. Every year, you are allowed to get two free tickets to a basketball game when you renew your season tickets. There are some stipulations on games usually as you can't get big ten games, or like the best out of conference games (seton hall, florida state, etc)...This has always been the case, and makes sense.

I asked for my two tickets to be for the Cleveland State game on a Tuesday night November 14th. They said, you are only allowed one ticket this year even though we have two season tickets. I responded, so if I had 10 season tickets, I would still only get one ticket, to which the rep responded "yes"..When i asked if there was anyone else that I can speak to regarding this, she replied "No", as this is what they are doing this year. Also, they will not mail your ticket, you have to go down to the RAC to redeem the ticket.

I know people will, say, hey, the ticket is free, but this is just bad business. That Cleveland State game on Tuesday will be lucky to be half full, not to mention they are still making money on parking and refreshments. This doesn't make any sense to me, as I am not going to the game alone, and now must use the free ticket, and purchase another ticket when I get there. Wouldn't it make sense to drum up more interest in these bad games by sticking to the two ticket policy.

Are you sure two free basketball tickets with football season ticket renewal was a "policy", or was it just something they did once or twice in recent years? And was it written down anywhere in materials RU sent out this year? If not, kind of hard to argue their version of an unwritten policy versus what you expected it to be. Also, I wouldn't label getting less freebies than expected an RU screw.

It wasn't a policy just that season's deal. But yes, you would think they'd do something like say 2 tix for OOC games or 1 tix for B1G game.

Check the tix forum when closer...you might be able to grab a free tix from another fan...or maybe somebody here will offer theirs up. (I used mine for S. Hall game)

It's just the point if you are going to do a giveaway, why give away one ticket instead of two. It's not like all the season ticket holders for football are even going to do it, let alone use it for Cleveland State on a Tuesday night. It has been two tickets the last bunch of years (i've had season tickets for 10 years at least).

ok, if you've done it for a bunch of years running, then I take your point that they should keep it at two tickets. And I guess this is regardless of when you renew/buy season tickets? I was unaware of the promotion. Don't think they really advertised it, which again, allows them to make up their own rules.

The good news for that game is you can buy the cheapest 300 level seat and then sit in the 200s no problem

Guessing it has something to do with the fact that the Cleveland State game is part of our "exempt tournament"...But that's totally a guess.

We were told that it was for every game that was part of the deal, not just this one

Perhaps the point is that if you get one free ticket maybe you will buy a second ticket & bring some money into the basketball program

Stop using the term "RU Screw" for something like this. RU screw isn't anything / everything you disagree with. Free tickets to bball was not a "policy" for football season ticket holders. It was a one-time incentive and this year they made it available again for everyone. And seemingly made the decision that it's only 1 ticket per account. That isn't the most favorable thing for all of us, but its a bonus. Not a screw

maybe there aren't enough unsold seats in the RAC to give free tickets to football customers for those limited # of games...so they limit to 1 per season ticket holder
