Monmouth returned 4 starters. Why are they struggling?

They are actually 2 spots better in kenpom rankings. They finished 95 last year.

My opinion on Monmouth:

- They're the hunted this year. Big difference compared to last year.
- Monmouth realizes that it's 3 days in March up in Albany at the MAAC Tourney that will decide whether they make the dance.
- Losing Deon Jones to graduation who was the heart and soul of last years' squad has been a huge loss.

They also lost at home to Rider a couple nights ago

I will give some insight. 2 things happened. Saint Peter's played an excellent game and executed a good game plan after the first 3 minutes besides starting the game down 7 zip. Point guard Wyche dominated the game and defensively the Peacocks put a taller defender on their 5'8 guard Robinson which frustrated him til the second half. Also, I think Monmouth is doubting themselves a little after their heartbreaking OT loss at home to Rider. Don't count Monmouth out yet because they are extremely talented and I also believe it is just going to be one of those wacky years in the MAAC which I have been following since 1983.
