Update: this applies to my experience at the East gate.

Entrance procedures continue to be a Mickey Mouse operation

Arrived at the East entrance (by Provident club at about 11:50am).

I was fully expecting to wait 10-15 minutes to get in but it took over 35 minutes to enter the stadium from the point we got in line.

Great move getting rid of the bag lines but they still only have 2 freaking metal detectors setup for people to walk through in what is probably the busiest (or 2nd busiest entrance).

2 freaking metal detectors that everyone has to funnel through single file!

Absurd this place does its best to keep people from coming back.

Went through the same entrance around the same time. 4 metal detectors (1 exclusive for Club seats). Took about 10 min. No issues.

Came in through the south entrance. Only issue are student security guards that are afraid to tell non compliant people to step aside to figure themselves out. Obvious exchange student couldn’t comprehend that she couldn’t bring a backpack purse into the game. Lead to a 30-40 person pile up.

When I went through I only counted 2 operating metal detectors for the general line.

It looked like there may have been a couple more but they were not operating.
Ok, I wasn’t paying attention but they had 3 setup like usual. I could tell it was a late arriving crowd because we left the yellow lot at 11:45 and 60% of the tailgate were still going strong.

Too many people still think they can get to the gate 10 minutes before kick and get to their seats. There is always massive spike of people just before kickoff, and the entrances clog up.
It’s like Eli said, undefeated season at the tailgates

Re-read the OP.

I was fully expecting to wait.

Having to wait 35 minutes and only having 2 operating metal detectors for one of the busiest entrances is inexcusable.

The line was literally at a standstill for almost the whole 35 minutes (it wasn’t even that long when I arrived).

If you arrive at the gate 10 minutes before a snap, you should expect to wait at least 30 minutes. Not sure why you think that would be a 10-15 minute wait.

There's not a very good bell curve for people entering this stadium, where more and more people get in line as kick off approaches.

30 min before kick you can walk right in. 20 min before kick, also not too bad. 10 minutes before kick, the entire stadium is trying to cram in at once.

Or how about they just add a few more metal detectors?

Maybe that’s the common sense solution.

Nobody should have to wait 30 minutes to get through the gate. They need to do better.

First.. those of you don't use or experience the east side entrance.. hold your comments. It doesn't look like the other entrances.. it is different.

There are many problems on the East side.. always have been.

When this version of the stadium first opened.. you could walk past the Hale Center and enter and come in on the other side.. and leave that way too. But they stopped that southeast staircase entry/exit very quickly... guess they don't want hordes of people exiting through the coaches and players lot at the Hale Center (and now practice complex).

But as things sit.. basically half the stadium sits on the East side.. and students may come from johnson Park and there is a South endzone entrance.. but many walk past the stadium to the tailgate areas. Then join everyone else in coming in from the west, north and east.. so half the stadium wants the East and it is the smallest entry area.

Furthermore.. that is where families and special guests and recruits enter.. and they don't use the normal lines.. so space if reserved for their entrance.. as it should be. I assume many are there much earlier and Hale Center itself is probably also used.. but I have seen that the East entrance does not compare to North or West in any way. It is so limited.

A lot of people want to walk past the statue on way in.. so they are closer to the East entrance afterward.. if they are on that side anyway.. they just join the line.

But my advice is use another entrance and walk around the stadium... INSIDE.. behind the last row of handicap seats. I don't advise EVERYONE to try that.. it would defeat the purpose rather quickly. But if you have a problem with long lines.. take the walk.

Part of the problem was that RU completely messed up gameday parking at jersey mikes. Leased a big chunk of the lots to the frats for homecoming parties and had no plan for parking. Just kept letting people pay the $30 to get in with no spots available. I know I got into the lot at 10:45 and sat there going in circles for close59 an hour before they finally opened a field for overflow. Based on the lines for the buses at the arena, there were plenty of other people in the same boat.

Good understanding of the issues at that entrance.

This entrance makes the most sense for me (my seats are in 227) but seems like I need to find another entrance and walk around the stadium to my seats.

Not ideal but if this cuts off 20 - 30 minutes of sitting in an almost stand still line I’ll look to do that.

Let me know how it works out... also.. works on leaving too.. use the stairwell then go INSIDE and walk about the inside to the north entrance or that little gate between east and north... avoid that mashup at teh ramp where lower level people force their way into the ramp. Always thought they should close the ramp exit to lower level people... smooth out the flow.

Yea the ramp is rough as well. That thing can get backed up even when fans hit the exits early like yesterday.

Don't arrive 10 minutes before Game starts.....LOL

Actually we entered west gate at same time and breezed into game.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to worry about crowds trying to enter the stadium anymore.
So true.
After Saturday's pathetic exhibition there's no way I'm gonna even try to convince my guys in the future to actually go into the stadium and watch what Rutgers is currently putting out there.

Or add more than 2 metal detectors at an entrance where thousands of people are using?

I was prepared to wait. I was not prepared to stand or inch forward 150 feet for 35 minutes.

I stopped using the east entrance years ago even though it’s closest to our seats. Walking by inside yesterday I was very happy as it appeared to be a total shit show there early first uarter

The problem over there is that the Hale Center existed at teh top of the old stadium.. and the "new" stadium was built around it. Where the west side has 2 full ramps upstairs.. both entrance/exit working.. the east side has one ramp and one staircase which is locked gates at teh bottom. it only works to go up/down between levels.. serves no function for entrance/exit. And, as stated earlier.. that one ramp is only maybe 1/2 to 2/3rd of the entrance lanes the same ramp on the west side has... and it serves more people coming from the tailgate lots.

They can, mostly, "fix" this quite easily. That gate in the fence between East and North entrances.. turn that into a gated entrance... the NorthEast entrance. And widen it. They store vendor carts nearby.. move them somewhere else or eliminate them.

Entitlement at its best. Funny part is he said you can walk right in 30-20 min before KO. If you don’t want to wait, go in early.

Entitlement because I think it’s absurd they had 2 operating metal detectors for a main entrance that feeds from the majority of parking areas outside the stadium?

Entitlement because I think it’s absurd to move (or not move) 150 feet in 35 minutes (because of said 2 metal detectors)?

Maybe you should leave your little sheltered life and get out to more stadiums / sporting venues and realize this isn’t normal.

And not everyone can even arrive 20-30 minutes early.

Sit through tunnel traffic and airport security. Ever drive on GSP on a Saturday in summer? Leave at 8am and it’s 15 min traffic. Leave at 10am and it’s 45 min traffic.

What does any of that have to do with Rutgers improving the experience at a main entrance that clearly is not anywhere close to similar with the experience on the opposite side of the stadium?

O right - nothing.

You really think the issue is having 2 instead of 3 metal detectors? I think it’s just a volume issue. Just like tunnel traffic, airport security lines and shore traffic. Plan ahead or sit in traffic. My recommendation is a roadie to enjoy while you wait or go in earlier.

ETA after the metal detector there is the ticket people and there were 4 stations and all had lines of people waiting.

Um do they only have 2 detectors at all of the other entrances?

They could easily have 5-6 and yes it would drastically improve the pace.

I’m telling you we almost didn’t move for 35 minutes. The backup was 100% due to the lack of detectors.

Those things are supposed to speed the process up at sporting events not slow them down.

In my experiences they have made entrance times faster EXCEPT at Rutgers.

Entered near the scarlet lot for the first time - with ease. This entrance has a lot of capacity - more than it needs based on potential entrants.

Sorry do not know the compass designated entrances.

I normally enter by the practice field - this entrance is always grossly under staffed and needs more manpower and detectors.

First you waited 35 min to get in, now you're saying you didn't move for 35 min. Which is it?

There's an easy solution that's in your control, though. Get to the gate earlier. If enough people do that, then it's less of a wait for later arrivals, too.

You’re a clown. You know what I mean.

The line wasn’t even that long.

It barely moved for 35 minutes and everyone was either standing still or inching their way forward during that span of time.

It shouldn’t be on the fans for Rutgers to figure out how to make the experience better and more aligned with the other entrances, genius.

If something bothers you, and it's in your power to avoid it, I don't get why that is such a burden.

Of course, that means there'd be one less thing to bitch about.

I came in the East gate this week by the Hale center, also around 11:50. Later than I wanted to be, because my wife and kids were enjoying the boardwalk. I knew it'd cause a delay getting in, and it did.

But I knew that, because I've been going to games and entering through that gate for years. It was our fault getting there so close to kick, so I accepted the consequences of our own actions.

Usually I get in earlier, because I know better.

The sidewalk on that side does allow for more. They allocated one just for club seats. No line there if you wish to pay up. People have to walk on the road to get around.
