There are 128 D1 teams that are ranked by stats. Below is every stat that we are worse than 50% of the other teams (i.e. 64 or higher).

As you can see, we are dreadful in every single phase of the game. In many cases, we are one of the worst 10 teams in the country in that particular category.

And generally getting worse in all of them, too. I fear that Fudd will survive another year, the team might--might--do a little better next year due to a slightly easier schedule, people will point to that as improvement, and then he will be here into 2017...and maybe beyond.

Once again: the schedule is NOT "easier" next year and could end up being much more difficult. Iowa, Michigan, PSU @ home? 2 Top 10 teams to start the season. OSU, MSU on the road? Top 10 and Top 20. Washington instead of Wazzou, in Seattle, to open? NO Army? Illinois beat Nebraska this year and Minnesota, on the road, isn't easy at all.

Tougher slate my friend.

Rather telling stats. Yet somehow people think benching Laviano is the answer?

brgossRU90,

Flood got a two year extension last year. I believe he is on contract through 2019. Hermann through 2018. I look forward to both departing. I highly doubt it happens before 2017 unless a major scandal arises.

I think the Laviano issue is more manifested by frustration with Flood.

If we had an intelligent/flexible coach who sets his ego aside and tried whatever he could to win... no one would make a big deal about Rettig. This isn't about Laviano, it's just a 'slap you in the face' kind of evidence that Flood is the problem. No other legitimate coach on this level would pull this kind of nonsense.

As for the contracts, I think it's a different case if he didn't have an academic scandal. Not only is he a bad football coach, but a lot of people in academia are calling for his head.

Hermann would be smart to make the change now, because if another major scandal happens... it really would be time to clear house. If she's proactive and remedies a major fan problem right now, she'll be seen as a hero... and buy herself plenty of time.

Few people have said it would be the answer. NEARLY EVERYONE thinks it's worth a shot because it COULD be the answer. But yeah.. there's no reason to give it a shot, right? I mean, why risk our great offensive numbers getting better...
