And, to quote the same guy, in reference to the upcoming game: "Don't give up, don't ever give up.

No specialty scoring stats yet, since the official box isn't up. [Now they're up, so I've added them.]

Christa - no stats

The team shot a pretty good 47.3%, a stunning 53.8% (on 7-13) from 3, and a decent 69.0% from the line. They had 22 points in the paint, 22 points off turnovers, 4 2nd chance points, 10 fast break points and 11 bench points. They had 45 rebounds, 15 assists, 6 steals, 4 blocks and 20 (yech) turnovers.

Seton Hall

Richardson-Smith 18 points (6-20, 4-11 3 pt, 2-4 ft), 3 reb, 1 a, 3 s, 1 b, 3 to
Jones 17 points (7-11, 0-1 3 pt, 3-8 ft), 7 reb, 2 a, 0 s, 1 b, 1 to
Johnson 12 points (4-10, 3-7 3 pt, 1-2 ft), 5 reb, 0 a, 1 s, 0 b, 2 to
D. Simmons 9 points (4-12, 1-2 3 pt, 0-1 ft), 5 reb, 4 a, 1 s. 0 b, 2 to
K. Simmons 5 points (0-5, 0-2, 5-7 ft), 1 reb, 0 a, 0 s, 0 b, 1 to
Ekedigwe 3 points (1-3, 1-1 ft), 1 reb, 0 a, 0 s, 0 b, 1 to
Gordon 2 points (1-2), 0 reb, 0 a, 0 s, 1 b, 0 to
Inman 0 points (0-1), 2 reb, 0 a, 1 s, 0 b, 1 to

The Pirates shot 35.9%, a very good 34.8% from 3 and a lousy 52.2% from the line. They had 28 points in the paint, 22 points off turnovers, 14 2nd chance points, 5 fast break points and 19 bench points. They had 33 rebounds, 15 assists, 8 steals, 3 blocks and 15 turnovers.

The turnovers more or less kept the Pirates in the game, but they pretty much got outplayed in every other way.

The blurb on ESPN refers to RU using "a barrage of 3s" to win. I can't think of the last time someone would have written that, but what's really funny is that Seton Hall actually made 1 more 3 than RU.

Where was this game played? The box score said the XL Center, which is the Hartford Civic Center, but all week long people were talking about Storrs. In any event, fewer than 4000 people were there so UConn fans weren't too excited about this tournament. Many (most) other venues had larger crowds. Hopefully, their fans will continue to stay away in droves on Monday.

Thanks, that's what I thought. The Yahoo women's basketball website is really deficient, much worse than their men's site. They had no women's tournament bracket, don't identify which games are NCAA tournament games (they're all mixed in with WNIT games), and don't indicate the regions. Most of the box scores also lack links to articles about the games, though ours did have one. Not exactly gender equity there.

BeK gives us much more info here, for which I thank him!

I agree. She seemed to be stroking the three with confidence.
