Tailgating will drop off too

Bullshit...our tailgating has been strong for a while. Will it ebb and flow a bit....sure

But not the drama you're suggesting

As the team continues to stink our 'game day scene ' will drop off as people lose interest . Just another reason to cut losses with this high school coaching staff now .

The fact that Rutgers has artificially pumped up the points needed for parking hasn't help much. The lots were pretty empty.

Of course the diehards will still be there . The casual fan will cut back. Just like some people will still buy tickets and attend games no matter what.

I'd rather tailgaite then go into the game and watch that pathetic excuse of a coach try and help his team win.

Ah yes the parking situation. Amazing if true that certain lots like my beloved silver lot was not fully occupied last night with a sellout while I was bused from the RAC. I will say this, blowouts are probably helpful with the after game lines to catch a bus. Another negative factor with regard to committing to season tickets next year if the status quo remains.

RU overreached with the parking situation and needs to be cautious going forward. There are a lot of reasons to watch the game on TV but tailgating is one of the enjoyable benefits of going to the game. My friend will not be renewing his two tickets next year due to the bumping in lots. Two years ago he was in black with a group and I was in silver. Last year he got bumped to silver with me. This year his black lot friends told him they got bumped to silver, but he was bumped to light blue and I to tan, so he has no one he knows in his lot. He just got fed up.

I got bumped back to Silver from Black this year too and I cannot stand that walk. And the walk past all the empty spaces. I have already made the choice (as discussed with my rep) to not buy parking next year and just try and purchase open market or park in the park. damn shame. Has really ruined my tailgating experience.

oh and for those to say..DONATE MORE.. well I actually would give them some more to "buy up" into the black again but that is not even possible. Its a crap shoot. Pay more with the hope of getting a decent lot and then get locked in if you don't because you can't cancel parking if you get a crappy lot.

I do not know about other lots but yellow was packed all the way back last night. There goes the thoughts that it was undersold.

As for the OP, enough with the dramatics.

I think the venom directed at the parking situation would be a little less if we had a good team and a team we could be proud of . Winning cures all ills . But the fact that Rutgers f$c$ed with the fans and the team stinks is a double whammy .
Just win baby and I could take a shuttle bus from Camden campus .

There are so many fickle RU fans!!

People won't renew because they got bumped from a lot?? Guess what...DONATE MORE and you can control what lot you get. Everyone wants free handout around here it is pathetic. If you want a better product on the field we need more ,money. Everyone has to do their part!!

It seems like people expect to field a championship team yet pay peanuts to watch them. So ridiculous

The pyramid scheme the admin invented to force everyone to a lower lot will get real interesting if they keep Flood. Good luck with that one Jules!

Yes everyone has to do their part . It starts with the administration. Don't screw with people and have a joke of a coach and a team .

We have also decided to not renew parking. We are thinking the bus ride to the Rac has got to better than the multi-mile hike to the stadium.

A better product on the field would mean that the money would have to be spent. It seems like we have an administration that expects fans to pay as if they are watching a championship team, yet pay peanuts to field one. That's also ridiculous.

I didn't say I was cancelling my tickets, just the parking. And as I noted in my edit above...paying more doesn't guarantee you anything.

And with $40mil on the come Rutgers has the cash it needs...the extra thousands Rutgers Football has gotten from me vs. what I used to pay hasn't changed the product all that much. It bought a nice stadium.

We tailgated for 12 hours. Had probably 125 people or more attend. Won tailgate of the day. We have no intentions of stopping tailgating. That's just crazy talk.

Well it's about time you won that. I had just about lost my faith in the system. I was beginning to think the Tailgate of the Game contest was just another corrupt, New Jersey, political show and tell. ;)
The legitimate queen has finally been crowned. Congrats!

It was mentioned previously that the blue lot was undersold. The entire area behind the soccer stadium was not used. See picture from last night. This section was roped off. Not sure who's cars were in there but there clearly could have been many more passes sold in this lot.

The admin is clearly leaving parking near the stadium open and forcing crowds into smaller lots.

For what purpose? To have extra walk time back to the car to discuss Flood's most recent gaffes?

If Flood is retained, who will sign up for that?

Tailgating is typically the most fun part of the gameday experience, that is, until the university is committed to a top tier football program.

Attendance for Nebraska will be good as long as there is no precipitation.

Entirely up to you if you do not want to pay... But, calling it a donation is a gross mischaracterization of what it actually is. The fact that we get a tax deduction is a gift in itself.

You are paying to tailgate with the people you enjoy in the spot you like.

It's been mentioned before but with lots getting pushed back they should really think about some type of people mover beyond nightingale. Not sure if feasible or not.

Congrats to the Screws and crew on the win!
As to the OP, casual fans are not the people who make the tailgate scene what is. Yesterday, the front of the blue lot was absolutely amazing. IMO it's has become the premier tailgate lot. People who invest the time energy and money to have the tailgate party's like yesterday just don't give up because the team is going through a rough stretch.
Just another topic that the OP is trying to blame everything on Coach Flood. We get it. You hate him. Please give it a rest.

I don't hate flood . I want him to succeed because I want Rutgers to win . I also don't trust the administration with a coaching search , so it would be easier if flood were competent .
If the team continues to stink some people will stop going and tailgating will drop off . The people that still do it I am sure will still have a great time .

I disagree with this thread. Great tailgating and spending time with friends/former classmates in the lots is what allows many of us to better stomach pitiful game performances like last night.

Besides the notable empty space at the back of some lots (Blue and Scarlet both confirmed last night), ridiculousness of donating toward a Busch lot but getting relegated to a game day Livingston lot (I know several people who are not renewing parking at all next season as a result), and oft-discussed discouragement of student/young-alumni from tailgating in the Busch lots, our B1G-time tailgating scene is a gem.

you are paying "for the chance" to tailgate with the people you enjoy in the spot you like.
Here's a scenario for you to consider. I spent like $1200 to support the team in Detroit last year instead of sitting home like most fans. I missed the Black lot by 1 point. 1 stinking point. (although) Hanging at the Marriott post game with Teel and James, as was riding up the elevator with the trophy was cool I must admit. BUT...

Instead of going to the game I could have bought 24 tickets as a donation and stayed home and gotten the freakin purple lot...exactly how is that fair?

This thing is broken. it is a simple new model for me. Don't buy a pass as a season tix holder. Don't go to the Bowl game unless it is something really good. And take those savings and buy a great pass near the stadium for all the games on the open market. I'll break even at worst and have a hell of a better tailgate going forward.

It may not be fair, but you knew going in you wouldn't get priority points for that. I think people should get credit for going to bowl games, but to me I envision anything beyond credit for tickets purchaed to the game to be logistically difficult.

I would disagree that you should have bought 24 tickets. If you had donated the money you could probably get yellow and it goes toward lifetime giving which is what is actually the big driver. The extra ticket purchases, bowl game purchases are just temporary shots in the arm. Cumulative lifetime giving (with your current donation) is really the only thing that matters.

One of the guys I tailgate with is doing next year exactly what you are doing. Buying a pass on stubhub and buying a ticket to only the games he wants to go to. I agree you will at worst break even. I
